I need some input here....I keep having this fantasy about creating a .22 cal N frame. I guess the first thing I might have to do would be to find a cylinder that was just a solid piece of metal w/o any holes or cylinder stop windows. Even after machining the cylinder I would have issues with getting a hand and ratchet to work well....the barrell could be turned down from a rifle barrell I suppose....Can you order a solid cylinder from S&W?? Just think, you could possibly have a 14 maybe even a 15 shot revolver.....how cool would that be?

I'm confident that with a sufficient input of money it could be accomplished. The big question is HOW MUCH??? But as you say, it would be a neat plinker and the subject of much input on the forum. I'll have to be content with a mundane run-0f-the-mill K frame .22.

I already have a 617 and I am really happy with it.....just thought this would be a cool concept gun, thats all.

RightWinger,

You are just a little late with your "New concept". S&W already did this, once. A Registered Magnum was special ordered in .22 rimfire in the late 1930s.

I keep hearing the term "registerd magnum" but have yet to find out what it is. Can someone please enlighten me please. Is it a one of a kind special ordered gun?
