Hes not after gun shows. Hes after ALL private sales. The tax payers in NYC should be raising cain.

This was taken from a Comcast report yesterday......

The undercover operation took place from about May to August and its $1.5 million cost was paid by city taxpayers. The city hired a team of 40 private investigators from an outside firm to make the purchases.

Anti-gunners are beating their drums because Bloomberg's project showed many private sellers continuing with the transaction even after the UC purchaser told the private seller that the "probably couldn't pass a background check."

Here's what the anti-gunners don't get: That private seller already broke the law. Enforcement is the issue: not passing new laws and new legislation.

It is illegal to sell to someone whom you may believe is a "prohibited person." As soon as thr UC buyer said he "probably couldn't pass the background check" the seller had reason to believe the UC purchaser was a "prohibited person" and, by law, should not have proceeded with the sale.

Just enforce exisiting laws! No new laws are needed. No BS about or new laws against a non-existent "loop-hole" will do anything more when exisiting laws are already being broken.

Sheesh... So Bloomberg's project showed people breaking the law and his solution is to pass new laws that those who purposefully operate outside the law will ignore anyway - just as they ignore current laws...

Punish unlawful sellers, punish straw buyers, punish prohibited person that posses, but leave lawful private parties and collectors alone. No new laws are necessary...

Precisely. I have never figured out why they think we need more stringent gun laws; we just need them to enforce the ones we have! And actually prosecute with them; not get rid of them at the drop of a hat.

Here's another thought: It is unlawful to purchase a firearm for someone else. If the firearms purchased are not in the possession of the undercover folks Bloomberg sent to the gun shows to make the purchases, they would possibly be considered "straw buyers" under the law and could themselves be prosecuted. Maybe the ATF needs to investigate Bloombergs lackys as illegal straw buyers...

Can I get an "AMEN" on that?

Bloomberg is a major butt boil. He has been pulling this crap for years now. He wastes taxpayer money to try to impose his agenda on everyone else.
He was threatened by Virginia's governmental authorities last year for sending his "undecover agents" into Virginia to run stings repeatedly where they had/have no legal authority what so ever. He was warned that he had no such right, or legal authority to carry out his stings, and that if he didn't cease his actions, he would be prosecuted right alongside of his agents that would be arrested. It was a big splash in the news for a day or two last year.
He did stop for a time (at least there), but he is obviously at it again. Citizens in the states where he conducts these sting operations, should contact there state's attorney general with complaints against Bloomberg for operating outside of his jurisdiction. Unless there is some type of pre existing co-operation with those states authorities, he is acting illegally. Most folks just assume that because he his vocal and obnoxious with his "loophole" claims, that he has the authority to carry them out, and never complain to anyone about it. The states will not usually get involved and spend their money to investigate (especially right now during the economic downturn), unless they are receiving complaints about this type of activity.

He's yet another in a LONG line of puke big city mayors, who seem to believe theirs is a mandate that allows governance of an entire nations population, rather than only the hacks that elected them?
Nickle's (Seattle), (Any twosome) Newsom San Fran, Daley (the second) Chicago. What you always need to remember is, that last carbuncle I named (Daley) was the cat litter box deposit that begat all the others feeling free to wipe their keisters with the 2A.

Thats the same thing I told Mayor Jim Suttle after I talked to him on the phone and I also told him that joining Bloomberg would lead to an accesory after the fact charge since he has already donated to Bloombergs fund.rz625-8

Why doesn't he spend the money to have undercover folks walk the streets in New York preventing crime?

There are plenty of actual crimes happening in New York all the time, why does he need to spend money going after made up crimes in other jurisdictions?
