MBC "may" be changing its sales procedures

Missouri Cast Bullets (MBC) has sold me a bunch of good bullets so I wanted to pass along to you all that they "may" be limiting new customers soon. I have read this on several forums and when placed an order with them last night, I commented on it. The owner(?) sent back an email that they may be limiting new customer sales in the future.

The reason I saw on another forum is they are swamped with all of the business and don't want to change their high service standards to existing customers.

So, my approach (to make sure I was in their database as an existing customer) was to buy 12,000 (odd) bullets last night.

No wonder they cannot keep up since I bought about 10,000 over the previous month or so.

Bottom line. If you don't buy from them, and want to, then maybe you should.

Just friendly advice from a satisfied customer.

If they're too busy to fill my order, I would go elsewhere anyway. They aren't the only source for cast bullets. I've never used them before, but a policy like this guarantees I won't consider using them in the future.

Hey, if they're honest enough to realize they can't keep up with the demand, I'm able to appreciate that instead of just taking orders and holding everyone up. Great to hear someone's business doing that well!

There is a big thread over on another forum about this. They may be limiting "new" individual customers. If you ordered before you are grandfather in.

That said their bullets are still available through commercial sales like Graf and Sons sometimes cheaper than direct from the company.

Bottom line, they are a family run "small" company that are just overwhelmed by success and it's killing them.

I spoke with JoAnn yesterday. She answered the phone after 2-3 rings.

They have hired two more guys and are hoping to get the back log cleared up.

I do not consider a 2 week wait a problem for me after receiving their bullets pretty much the day after I ordered

Part of the problem is "new" reloaders who are not sure exactly what bullets they need or want and she spends a lot of time trying to get them the correct item. Then they receive what they ordered and decide that's not what the want

Another is is the sense of panic (once again) due to election hype and fear.

This is just based on our brief conversation, so of course anything can change in the future.

They are one of the best companies I have ever dealt with (not just reloading stuff).

Missouri Bullets, great company and good people. It's been confirmed by the owner Brad they will not be taking on NEW direct buy customers but those who are in their database are Grandfathered in. Not to worry, you can buy their bullets from Graf & Sons or from Powder Valley.

From what I've read they are limiting new direct customers because they don't want to slip into sub-par servicing. They make a very good product so I see no problem buying their bullets from Powder Valley if necessary. I shoot their 30-30 and 45-70 bullets as well as their 38/357, 9mm, 45 Auto and 45 Colt bullets, all are great IMO.

I have gone else where when people are just being lazy and didn't want to wait on me. Can you imagine the work it took to build their business to this point? They are saying that they won't cut their quality to take care of more customers. I think that says a lot about a company. Just how many companies do you know that would do this? I bet you could count them on one hand. Don

Or cast your own. Not as hard as you might think. And yes, there's the initial investment, but all things added up, I can cast 500 H&G 68s for about $14 or 500 158 grain SWCs for $11,assuming I paid $1 per pound for the lead. Throw in the reclaimed lead I pick up from the berm and it's even cheaper. Plus I can get the bullet design I want and the size I want, and can control the hardness (or lack of it, if I want). And it does take time, but it's just one more aspect of the hobby that I enjoy.

Once you get past the purchase of your moulds and gear, which is up to you to determine how much you want to cast then everything falls into place. I have a Lee ladle pot, a handful of Lyman moulds and a few other things and have alot of wheel weights just waiting to be recycled. I take the time out and cast what I need as I don't shoot as much as I used to. I cast about 100 bullets at a time which works for me, and for the last 6 months I have been in the plus category. I figure with just the bullets I have cast in the last few months I would have paid over $400-$500 for from someone else. Its well worth it when you get into it. Then you don't have to worry about getting bullets in stock.

I ordered 2000 bullets from MBC a few days ago, they have shipped.

It took them three days instead of two, I am soooo disappointed.

I placed my 1st order with them 2 weks ago for 1K .40 cals and the website said there was a delay in shipping. I got my order 2 days later. Bullets were very clean and uniform. Hopefully I'm on their list now, I will be odering again.

Kind of a "diminishing returns" thing. I ran a small business for many years. To expand requires lots of money, additional overhead, labor, machines, space, taxes etc. One has to have the capital (money)to lay out and then hopefully recoup that in a reasonable time without raising prices so much that you loose business. It just is not easy, especially in this economy.

I've ordered from them twice and found them to be extremely fast with an excellent product. E-mail queries are answered within minutes, not hours or days! They have my cast bullet business.

As much as I like my lasercast bullets, MBC is dang good stuff so they get the bulk of my purchases now. Realistically MBC's are softer when they should be and make more sense then Lasercasts in many cases.
