I had a Mod. 14-4 that has the rear sight scwewed all the way down and it still shoots a little high at 25 yards (anout 2 inches hight) with 2.7 of Bullseye and Rem. 148 gr. HBWC. I would like to get a new rear sight blade so that I can bring the bullet impact down some but I'm not sure which sight I have on there now. I bought the gun used and I'm not sure if this is the original rear sight or not.

Now for the dumb question. Where would I measure (point A to point B) to get the height of my rear blade? I'm sure the next smaller/shorter one would work but I don't want to buy every size just to find out which one I already have. Can someone give me an idea where/how to measure from to get my rear sight heihgt?

Thanks.

Just what it says - from the top to the bottom of the blade. Easy to measure when the blade is removed from the sight - not very easy when it's installed.

You can make a good guess by moving the blade to one side and eyeballing the height with calipers.
