Just a curiosity question but when you get stocks from custom high end makers like Brown or Culina do you prefer them to have medallions or find them more aesthetically pleasing without? My collection is steadily growing but all have them so far, any reason to change that?

I prefer medallions when possible. Some materials, like certain types of stag, may not allow them.

I also prefer medallions...and yes, they can be used with stag stocks. Here are some from Pat Grashorn. I later dyed them because I thought they looked too white for a 1927 revolver and wanted them to look aged and match my knife scales. The medallions still look great!

Thank you one and all, I will continue with medallions. I used spell check and must have clicked on the wrong selection. I appreciate the correction and have fixed it.
Best.

How do you dye stag grips? Asking for a friend

I'd like to know too. I like that "aged" look.

I, too, prefer medallions and got them on my Fishpaws, but I have trouble justifying them. I just think they look better.

However, Pachmayrs I prefer without medallions. Probably quit making SN-S Presentations before they started up with medallions, anyway.

Sorry to trash up your thread by discussing medallions on Goodyears.

Depending on the bark, the roughness, and the depth, not all stag is conducive for the placing of medallions. Your stags have been shaped and smoothed where the medallions are placed. Other grips have full "bark" coverage and it is simply too rough for proper installation.
