Mel Gibson to write/direct Wild Bunch remake!

...i'd buy that for a dollar! ;)
Interesting reference to bring up in a thread about remakes, since it is a (semi) veiled reference to the line "Would you buy that for a quarter" from the book The Marching Morons.

While I can't help but wonder why Hollyweird can't come up with something new instead of rehashing past movies, it certainly doesn't upset me.

I was also surprised to find so much vitriol directed towards Gibson (by anyone outside of Hollyweird).

And now I hear that Steven Spielberg is re-making West Side Story. Will this nonsense ever end?

It's Hollywood, so, no. It's what they do.

My first wife loved WSS. I watched it for about ten minutes, that was all I could handle. She told me there would be gangs fighting, and I expected blood!

The problem that I have with movies these days are the CGI effects. I can do without them. I've seen action movies that are so heavy on the CGI, and for such long periods of time, I get bored and lose interest during the action scenes. I guess their target audience is somewhat younger than myself.
