US Veteran
I wrote this several years ago and I am compelled to post it once again. For those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we may remain free.
As we remember our Veterans who are no longer with us, at ceremonies across our country and at locations around the world, a mere 24 notes bring us to tears. 24 notes which were once only a "call", not a melody or a tune with catchy words to accompany it, but a call ending the day. Today those 24 notes tell those we lost it is now time to rest, they have done their duty, and we who remain must now carry the torch. So simple is Taps that it only takes 24 notes to impart our honor of those selfless individuals. This weekend if you have the occasion to hear those 24 notes, remember those who gave their full measure so we may live with the freedoms we have.
For those who served and left us far too soon, God bless you all, and thank you for your service.
