Michael Jackson is dead!

I have seen presidents die that had the same news coverage. I definetly was no fan. I remember the coverage on his accused child molestions etc. The reported payoff of 15 million, his weirdness etc. What gets me is that my favorite fox news channel is giveing it such extreem news coverage. I am dissapointed with them. I have seen his filthy gestures singing, just what does it say about this country to idolise such a pervert?
I try not to judge most people that are weird and that I dont like, I know they are comeing from different backgrounds that shaped them far different than my background and the way I was raised.
A funny thing happened to me that also embarrased me a couple days ago. I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for my wife to come out of the grocery store. I seen "archie" a local old cowboy with hooks for arms from a long ago accident get in his 20 year old beat up pickup in the handicap parking spot and with difficulty finaly manuever out. A dirty van was waiting to take the handicap spot. I couldnt see the driver well through the dirty windows (ranch country) but did see he appeared straight, thin and I ASSUMED young. A young heavy metal tatooed type maybe 22 year old girl rideing with him got out right next to me. I immediately thought they didnt deserve to be there. I yelled at her as she got out, "You people got a handy cap sticker?" She mumbled something I couldnt hear and walked to the store. Then the driver rolled down the window and yelled to me that he had one and fished it out and showed me. I appologised, said that at a distance he looked like a teenager. When he rolled down the window I seen I was off by about 30 years! Looked to be a old pony tailed biker! He thanked me for checking and I felt like a AXX HXXe!
The point is dont judge. Yet I belive the country is going overboard with this idoliseation on the freak!

We may not have circus sideshows any longer, but Geraldo at the anchor desk, and live video of a hospital parking lot.....it came damn close. Initially, I was angry at FOX. Then it occurred to me that the blame probably belongs with the American public. News people are entertainers, and they know what sells.

I understand that he was famous, and his passing was a big deal to many people I suppose. The degree to which it dominated the airwaves though, just kind of makes me sad. I don't take pleasure in anyone's death, but there are many more deserving of my time and sympathy than this guy.

All of the news outlets were broadcasting nothing but MJ. Drives me up the wall! Iran, Iraq, Afganistan, energy policy, health policy, - all hot topics yesterday more important than non-stop coverage of MJ, but I heard not a peep about any of those issues (or any other issues except MJ) all night long. Sure, a pop icon passing is newsworthy - but NOT worthy of non-stop coverage while other important things are happening around the world and important debates happening in US policy....

Grrrr... MSM strikes out once again....

You said it best!

I am very disgusted with FOX news - I thought they were better than that! (But every so often they show their true colors don't they?...and it ain't pretty!). I noticed that O'Reilly and Hannity bowed out in favor of Shepard Smith and Geraldo last night - their 2 top liberals! :p

Thank God for the History Channel and DVD's - I've watched a lot of those and little of FOX (or any other news shows) for any TV time for the last 1 1/2 days.

You know, I thought he was freaky too. I didn't like the charges brought against him and I didn't believe he was not guilty either. Neither did I like the coverage given to his death by Fox News, nor any of the other outlets. I can't honestly say I was even a fan of his, although there is no question he changed the direction of pop music as I knew it at the time, and his talent is not to be questioned, in my opinion. What I don't like even less, though, is the way everybody here is staying on his ass. He's DEAD for crying out loud; there's nothing anybody can do about his child abuse allegations or nothing else. I think everybody should pay respect to him as a human being who had talent and changed the musical and entertainment world, and keep the badmouthing to yourself. Like I said, I believe he was probably guilty as charged of all that stuff, but dead men tell no tales. He will be judged, as will us all, by our Maker. In the meantime, I just wish everybody would let their opinions of him go, and let him RIP. As far as the media is concerned, they all just gave the majority what they wanted to see. It's what sells, and most would have done EXACTLY the same thing.

""What really upsets me is that Ed McMahon, a Marine Corps veteran of both WW II and Korea, got bumped from tha news because of MJ.

Semper Fidelis, Ed.""

+100 to that. One served his country in two wars, and the other slept with young boys.

Well I have to say I was never a fan even though I grew up 1/2 way between the Elvis & Michael era I'll always be an Elvis fan ( I still remember his death). As for him being a pedophile it was never proven. He was a perfect target for gold diggers. Just because you're accused it doesn't make a conviction. On this board espescially I hope we all remember our basic Bill of Rights.
I feel sorry for his family especially his kids because we all know no matter how bad dad was he was still your dad. If he actually did what he was accused of the man upstairs will take care of his soul. As for speaking ill of the dead I'll just leave that for others.

Michael Jackson: The Movie

The inspiring story of a poor black boy who fought adversity to grow up and become a rich white woman.

even though I am not a fan of michael jackson I followed his trial pretty close. I also followed the testemonies and video tapes ect. Unlike O.J. I thought he was innocent.

That family had issues like all families. There was just on another level we can't understand. . Just look at Janet who came out with her first hit "Control" when she finally broke away from her father.

I don't remember which magazine published the entire/unedited victims deposition in the molestation trial but do remember reading it. It was sad and sick and left no doubt whatsoever that Michael was guilty as sin. It also left little doubt this was not the first/only time this sort of thing had taken place. The victims family was muzzled by the out of court settlement that was guesstimated to be in the 15 million dollar range contingent upon their complete and total non disclosure.

While not a fan of his music one cannot deny his many musical gifts and his influence will live on. How sad that this sick little pervert was able to escape justice by writing checks. If I never hear another Michael Jackson song it will be too soon.

What really bothered me, when Ed McMahon died hardly any mention was made of him, and he was a USMC fighter pilot in both WWII and Korea. Michael Jackson died, and it seems like the world ended.. I don't care how talented he was, anyone else if they would have been charged with what he was accused of they would have gone right to prison.

Sounds like we live in Great Britan instead of America. It's suppose to be inocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven inocent. All we need now is all of our guns taken away and change our name.
