I ordered some 135 grain 357 Gold Dots from Midway on April 26th. They arrived yesterday. They shipped on May 2nd. Larry Potterfield seems to take great pride in his shipping. This is probably driving him nuts. I am not complaining. I like Midway and will continue doing business with them. The good news for Larry is the virus doesn't seem to be hurting his business. Ammo arrived in good shape and well packed. Just took them a while to get it shipped. Hugh

A couple of years ago, I ordered and received a new barrel for my model 41 from them. The $300+ barrel was sent completely naked inside a tyvek shipping bag. No packing, bubble wrap, paper, nothing.
Fortunately, the rear sight survived....and I could only find one small light spot of damage on the barrel that is not visible when the barrel is installed.

Ordered some bullets for reloading and they came within a week. I ordered in May. I think that all online ammo places had issues with the rush to get more bullets, ammo, powder, etc. I ordered ammo from Natchez and it took over a month. They got hit with orders and tornadoes. Double whammy.

Midway is good. However, when I get something from them, I order a small quantity of ammo as well. That way, the shipment goes UPS all the way and not UPS Mail Innovations. When it goes UPS MI, the package often sits several days while it's being transferred to the post office.

That happened with some moon clips I ordered and I had to wait for two weeks after the projected delivery date before I got the clips. Right now, I'm waiting for some magazines for my CZ rifle. I have no idea when they will arrive and it's four days late.

Midway was out of the mags I needed or I would have ordered from them and put some ammo in the shipment.

UPS Mail Innovations is not on my good side at the moment.

Talking with the folks at Dillon, they are swamped with orders for reloading equipment and other firearms-related items. They've always prided themselves on quick shipping, and they are really working extremely hard to keep up with increased orders during this pandemic. Their production line for reloading machines is really pedal to the metal right now. I suspect that is also true for Midway and other shooting suppliers.

Midway has been good to deal with for me. Sometimes on small quantity orders you get some bizarre shipping rates. Just check before you hit checkout. If the shipping is going to be insane, wait until you can place a bigger order or get it from Brownells.

What people seem to have forgotten, is that for the companies that didn't shut down due to COVID19, they've been operating with reduced staff, which can easily result in increased packing/shipping time frames.

as an example, just yesterday I received an email from Glockstore titled 'About Two Weeks', with a dissertation about their backlog of orders, emails, calls and working with 1/4 the normal employees, that until further notice, not to expect any shipping notices sooner than 2 weeks after the order was placed.

BTW: I hadn't thought about including some ammo in my Midway orders to ensure the order ships UPS Ground. Nice trick! :)

It is nice to see a positive post about Midway shipping usually it is some nonsense used to be about cost, then packing, then time or some other nit pick.

:D

With due respect. I don't consider more than a few expensive trashed orders caused by improper packaging "nonsense" or a "nit pick." Albeit, they are convenient, fast, have great customer service and usually have what I need, historically their packaging has been overall less than stellar...for me anyway. Maybe I'm just unlucky...

Larry has been in business a long time and done a great service to gun owners.
:D

Absolutely. And that's what keeps me going back. Although sometimes disappointing I know the situation. And if it's really bad they will make it right.

I recently placed an order with Midway for some LPP and powder for my 7mm, and 7mm match bullets. The really nice thing when I ordered was that they advised that it could be about two weeks before my order shipped. I can respect that.

I recently placed an order with Matches for powder and components for the 224 Valkyrie I am putting together. I was advised that the order would be shipped in about two weeks, but it was at my door in just under two weeks.

In my opinion, excellent service considering the conditions that we are currently dealing with!

I placed an order with Midway a couple weeks ago and it came fairly quickly. I seem to recall they promised a couple weeks and they beat that.

IDK if CDNN would have what you need but I ordered a barrel yesterday morning and it came today. I almost never order from Midway anymore.

I've never had a problem with packaging on any of my orders from Midway. Even the ones that end up being delivered by USPS. Though this might be because I've developed a good relationship with my usual carrier. She does a great job and it's usually on the truck the next day after being transferred from UPS. She knows companies by now, and if it looks expensive or delicate, she'll leave a note if it won't fit in the mailbox or the weather is really bad. I'll see it and give her a call whether to leave it at the post office to pick up or have her deliver it the next day. There is a reason she gets a Christmas card with a gift card every year. But that's just my individual experience. Same relationship with my UPS driver. He's a gun guy and recognizes the usual suspects. He goes the extra mile to put them out of sight and bags them if the weather is bad.

But back on topic, I've never had a bad experience with them. Though sometimes the prices and free shipping with Brownells will have me shop there.

The magazines FINALLY got here. Three days after I broke my arm. Sometimes you just can't win.

FYI, Midway currently has free shipping on orders >$49.00

Yeah, I had been sitting on an order waiting on 2 backordered items to be in stock, finally gave up and placed my order what was in stock, next day they offered free shipping, dangit.

Been dealing with Midway for years and always been happy with the service. Because I live close I almost alway pick up my order at Midway. Problem now is I can't go get my order because pickup is not open. O well that is something I just have to live with.

That's what I do.

USPS is in trouble financially, and is strained to the limit technically. If you need something, Fed Ex and UPS, worth the extra cost. A couple of the distributors I use for archery and firearms stuff don't even have a USPS option anymore. Tells me something.

Yeah, that's my luck, too.

I ordered from Midway last week and they shipped the same day. The problem started when the post office got the order. The order went to Kansas City which is 60 miles on the other side of where I live. Then the order went back past my town to Columbia MO which is five miles from Midway. It has been in Columbia now for 6 days. Maybe a black hole in Columbia got it. I think Midway is a great bunch of people to do business with but I wish they would find a better shipper. I live 65 miles from Midway and often pick up my orders except when shipping is only $5 or so. Most times it takes the post office 5 days to deliver that 65 miles. The post office is full of hard working people but the whole system needs to be redone.

Recently placed an order with Midway on a Sunday night using my birthday pricing and it was at my front door on Wednesday afternoon with free shipping for orders over $49. Can't beat that. I've been doing business with them for 25 years with no complaints.

Some folks who have never thought about or ever worked in a warehouse of distribution center, might be amazed at what happens after a retail order is place on line or by phone. There is so many parts to the whole system! A place like Midway carry's so many items in inventory and has one of the most organized website out there. Then of course there are all the other departments that any big business has. It's mind boggling.
Here is just a brief video of the roller coaster for parts!:D

I have done a lot of business with Midway and have been very impressed with how quickly they ship and the quality of the packaging.

Midway is my favorite place to get just about everything. I met Larry one day when I went to Midway to pick up an order I used to live about 50 miles from his place outside of Columbia MO. Since moving to Texas I still buy ammo, magazines etc from him. He usually ships within 24 hours, and with the pandemic it might take a couple extra days to get it. Usually if it comes to Texas it goes thru KC and it may get a little screwed up there. I recommend Midway and they have free shipping quite often on orders over 49 dollars.

I've heard a lot of complaints......

...but not about Midway. In their case it's probably the carriers.

A lot of businesses are trying to 'bait' people with something that they say is in stock, you order that and a few extras. The extra stuff comes but what you wanted isn't in stock.

I place several orders a year with Midway. When I order they estimate arrival at 10 days to 2 weeks, which sounds excessive considering most of the other companies I order from can get the stuff to my door within 4-5 days of the order.

But the Midway orders always arrive much sooner than what they tell you at first, within 5 or 6 days. I think they are just playing it safe and would rather say it's going to take longer than it does.

As far as the USPS, my stuff shipped that way is ALWAYS here when their tracking says it will. And fast too, usually within 3 or 4 days.
Fed Ex is good too.

UPS screws things up a good 70% of the time. My orders will either get lost in Phoenix for several days before moving on, or the drivers will deliver the package to one of my neighbors, I guess as long as they leave the box in the general vicinity that's good enough.

Guess it depends on the area. UPS has been the most reliable delivery service in my area. Fedex has been guilty of leaving my package at my neighbors and theirs at mine. USPS sometimes takes way longer than they should.
