Miller High Life

My all time favorite boss and erudite beerophile had the following comment on lite beer ... " Lite beer is like checking your pulse during sex ". Words to live by.

Some of the first beer I ever drank! As someone said, "The champagne of bottled beer"! Not canned! Bottle is always better, draft is ever better! I, along with many other vets, have seen mountains of Carling Black Label you couldn't give away! Stacked so long in the sun the labels had faded! Just about as soon try to drink C-rat coffee and claim it's coffee!

If it wasn't for Miller High Life I wouldn't drink beer at all, well maybe not so much of it anyway...For some reason it's sweet nutty flavor does it for me...I will drink a Bud if thats all thats available but really don't like it that much and it gives me a headache...I love the Miller Man TV comercial with Windell Middlebrook, it's one of the few comercials I will watch along with the Geico comercial with Gunny Sgt Ermy as a therapist which also cracks me up...Anyway beer is God's way of telling us that he loves us and wants us to be happy!!!...

I've gone through everything from Miller High Life to Iron City. After a few I have a hard time telling one domestic beer from the next. These days I generally prefer something more stout from one of the various micro breweries.*

*Actually, I prefer what every someone ele is buying for me.:D

Like me some Miller. It was the first beer I tried to drink. I was 12 and told my Momma I wanted a beer. She had an eight pack of Pony's in the fridge for guest and told me to get one. Said if I drank it, I could have all I wanted. Needless to say, I couldn't drink it.
Was surprised a couple years ago when the 8 pack Pony's made a come back. Been drinkin' the High Life and Light ever since.

Brings back a lotta memories.

They still sell quart bottles of beer?

How about Colt 45? Now there was some vile stuff! Malt liquor -- whatever that means. Lotta black guys used to like it back in the '60s.

Then there was A&P's house brand, Tudor, at, what, 89 cents a six pack? Marlboros at 25 cents a pack... There ya go! Two bucks of gas in the car and you were set! Life was good!

Many, many years ago, the father of a fellow I ran with worked in the brewhouse of the old Rheingold brewery in Orange, NJ. His dad told us then (late '60s, early '70s) that Miller High Life in the quart glass bottles was one of the best American beers. I'm not much of a beer drinker but what he said was true then and probably still is today although I haven't seen the clear glass quarts in decades.

God, I drank so much of that stuff in College along with other nasty things I probably still have it in my system.:D
Could suck those bottles down.

My current beer of choice is Pilsner Urguell, the original Pilsner, from the Chech Republic, they have been making it for about 500 years, they sure have gotten it right. Still paying about a hour's pay for a case, its about $40. for a case of 12 oz glass bottles.
Try to find it in the four pack of half liter cans that it's available in now... tastes like they just tapped the keg. Those green bottles don't protect it at all if it's been exposed to the light.

Drank a six pack of it this past weekend. 3.99 plus tax for the six pack aint' no bad deal, and it ain't no bad beer either. I generally have S&W taste on a Crosman air gun budget when it comes to beer, but this stuff is good for the money, and a damn sight better than anything turned out by Budweiser. Given my preference though, I like Michelob Amber Boch and Sam Adams Original or anything they make that is dark. When it comes to imports, I really like a Red Stripe.

I don't really drink that much beer....but have been drinking it all my life and will turn 70 in just a few weeks!

Personally, I feel that as I have grown older I've developed more of a "taste" for beer, and personally, I find most of the domestic brews to be quite dreadful...actually!

As someone said above, I think Miller's tastes sweet....and that's the last thing I ever want in beer.

I know Bud Lite must be the most popular beer in the country.....and that speaks volumes! (By the same turn....we elected Obama! Says the same thing to me!)

I really like dark British and German beers. Right now, I keep my fridge stocked with Guiness. Anything much "lighter" than that just isn't beer in my book.

Farrell's in Brooklyn

I was raised in a bar called Farrell's in Brooklyn. I've musta drank 5,000 gals of Bud. the beer is soooo good from the taps. Every Sunday an old guy would stop by around closing time and disconnect the taps. He then connected a weird gadget to it and ran glass beads + hot water thru the coils and lines. He said it cleaned the scum out of the lines. Best beer in Brooklyn and on the East Coast I'd say.

I cant stands no more.Miller is water.Bud turns me green.Anything "lite"is a waste of time.
You gotta drink the good stuff 'cause the cheep swill is a headache in the morning. There is a reason they call you "polluted".Additives.

I'll generally pick a MHL over a Bud, but I prefer dark
beer. As far as beer made from a U.S. mass marketer,
I think the Michelob Amber stuff is probably one of the
better picks for my tastes. But I'll sometimes go with
Sam Adams, sometimes Heineken dark, and I even like
Guinness stout..
I'll pick anything dark over a MHL in a second.. I'll only get
the Miller if all they have is basic US brands and nothing else.
I like that Michelob Amber stuff way better than Miller.
Also drank quite a few of the regular Michelob's in my day.
I'd have to say Michelob is my favorite big brand US lager beer.
But the amber dark is better. Heineken dark has always been
one of my favorites over the years, but it's not near as good now
as it was say 20-30 years ago. They keep modifying the recipe and
have pretty much succeeded in ruining it. It's still drinkable though..
