I'm planning to start using my 14-3 competition shooting this summer, and it desperately needs a decent rear sight. I allready have a LPA TXT in my sock drawer, but mounting it would require the frame to be drilled and tapped.

I'm on the hunt for a Millett rear sight that would not require any alteration to the revolver, but I can't find anything for my old beauty. I've allready checked out, Brownell, Numrich, Ebay and Gunbroker, without any luck. Does any of the gentlemen (and women, of course) who frequent this forum know about a retailer (preferably with a website) who might have a Millet rear sight for my M14?

Did you try Millett directly? They have a website www.millettsights.com
I just looked in an older Millett catalog (2002) and it shows a .312 blade height for a model 14, 6" or 8 3/8" barrell. SK00001 white outline or SK00002 Target (black). This is assuming that you have the square ended sighe and not the newer rounded end. It also says that pre 1974 models must be drilled and counterbored special order from Millett

I've checked out Milletts website and the catalog, but they don't list any rear sights for my ageing beauty.

I've looked into getting a Weigand rear sight blade for my revolver instead, but I'm not sure about how wide notch to go for. The intended use for the revolver is the ISSF 25m Center Fire Pistol, and a national dicipline involving rapid fire on multiple targets of different size and form.

Any suggestions on what widht to go for?

Go for the .125" notch.... plenty of light up the sides of the sight for good visibility and fast acquisition.

The Millet .410" sight provides a better (deeper) sight picture.... but you will need a taller front sight.
