Misrepresented S&W Revolvers on Gunbroker

I'm still trying to get over his P-38. It's listed as 99% has the barrel chopped off, threaded, no front sight, blued parts, polished parts, and he wants real money for it... I'm dying each time I look...

Come on $500 for a "Safe queen" is a steal--especially for NAZI memorabilia :D No explanation needed as to why it would be considered one.

He has 34 active auctions right now. One of them is a S&W 940 marked "new in box" and has that super bright finish and the aftermarket grips. How does a "new" gun have that finish and not come with the factory grips? In his description, he calls it a "safe queen". How can it be a safe queen if it's never been owned by anybody? He marks it as "new old stock". How does a non-dealer get a "new old stock" gun? This guy is buying guns for the purpose of profitting from them, which is illegal. He has no FFL.

I used to take the time to increase the size of the photos to get a better look at his always pristine or %100 guns, over time it became obvious he overestimates the condition on nearly everything, and polishes everything in an attempt to make it look better, now i whenever i see his blue copied and pasted add he uses, i just hit the back button and move on.

I see more and more misrepresented guns on Gunbroker lately. Right now there is a Model 65-5 advertised as having the "rare" 3 inch barrel. Judging from the photos I would guess that the barrel is not original to the gun as the barrel just does not mate up with the frame correctly.

A guy had a 696 advertised on there last week as being never fired. The gun had been polished but you could still plainly see the carbon rings around the front of the cylinder. Looked like it had been shot quite a bit actually.

Sadly, there are TONS of sellers on GB like this. Not too mention the ones that sell knock off Eotech and Aimpoints..sheesh! Dont even get me started!!!

Maybe an email to the ATF is in order.

I find this suggestion appalling.

You emailed him but didn't get a response you like.

You then contacted GB and didn't get a response you like.

So your next course of action is to find one of the largest anti-gun governmental hammers you find? You know the saying: with friends like that...

He may be a scumbag, and he may even be engaged in fraud. Let the buyers taken by the guy take the fight to him. You've done what you thought was right in the private sector, including starting this thread, which I think is a useful service. Leave it at that.

This guy also tried awhile back to sell Imported Grips as Original S&W's Combats and I called him out about it. All he could say was he was sure they were real. I Knew better cause I bought a pair from the maker out of Thailand they didn't come close to fitting and the screw interfied with the Main Spring and I had to do some extra fitting without messing the grips up but still there not really right to me.
He also advertises on GB polishing Service something like $175.00 for it.
He's located about 2 hours away from me I looked him up. I would not deal with him for anything.
Myself,I dont like the way SS S&W look and have polished all mine out without doing any harm to them. The lettering is all sharp & chrisp where they should be and no rounded edges. To do them right it takes alot of time and care. Mine look like nickel, very hard to tell if you dont know anything about S&W's, But they were brand new also. After doing mine $175.00 is a good price if done right. But I would not trust this guy to even look at any of my S&W's for any reason.

I don't find it appalling at all. He's clearly buying guns and flipping them for an immediate profit, something that is cleally illegal. On top of that, he's charging FAR MORE than their worth, and targeting uninformed buyers. When called out on it, he refutes the claims, despite the evidence, and he nastily responds. You feel worse for the crook than his victims. I don't. If GB did something about it, I'd leave it at that. I gave them evidence they needed, and they basically said "if you don't like it, don't bid". Sorry, that's not enough for me. And I don't look at the ATF as the enemy.

Guys, please don't fight and get this thread closed. The more people that read this, the better. I for one would have been a sucker only a couple of years ago to this guy. Threads like this one are majorly informative to those of us lacking in knowledge.

Besides, it's kind of fun to just rip on this guy since if you do know it, his stuff is laughable...

He has a "new old stock" S&W 940 on there with that super bright finish and cheapo wood stocks that he is listing as "new in box". I filed a complaint about him to gb, and the first time they said to move along. The second one I filed they responded with "we will contact the seller to question the validity of his descriptions. The seller is associated with a known firearms restorer".

And I'm not trying to correct all wrongs in the universe. Just this one. And the reason this guy got under my skin is that when I asked a valid question (phrased non-aggressively), he responded with "you just can't afford this $1000 gun". So yeah, he pissed me off.

He now only has 5 guns for sale. Two days ago, it was 34. His emails stopped when I reminded him that selling guns for profit without an FFL is a felony. He was majorly pissed in his last email. Such a stupid thing, really. All he had to do was be polite in answering a question and not insult me. Once we got into it, a little digging was all it took to expose him. Even gunbroker admitted he was misrepresenting his product and would address it.
