Yes, bsg, there will be.
But I know for sure my un-gun-savy friends will wonder what the
heck I'm talking about if I say I'm going to "Take time to stop
and smell the Smith&Wessons". :D

I have an unusual method for shopping for things I want. Revolvers, as we are discussing, and other "luxury" items as well.

I look for some firm offering it for sale online. I then add it to my "cart" but do not immediately check out. I am thinking that I bought it but I wait three months or so to complete the transaction (I realize that this is not feasible with revolver transactions because they disappear so quickly but I do this as part of my planning what to buy).

After mentally "buying" the item I will think about how I own it and will use it, it becomes part of my daily life. Somewhere around the three month mark I start realizing that the item did not do everything I wanted it to, was not as satisfying to own as I thought it would be. I did enjoy "owning" it for that period of time so I remove it from my shopping cart. Six months ago I had four S&Ws in my mental "cart," now there is only one, and I have not purchased anything in 18 months.

I see many online ads "new gun purchased two months ago, not fired, decided I do not need it." Gun sells at a loss to the owner. I have done that same thing myself in the past, no longer. And I have a much higher satisfaction level with the items I do own, not spending so much time loooking at that oh-so-green grass on the other side of the fence.

That is a very wallet-friendly way of shopping, sac-gunslinger. I kind of do similar. I make a list.
I imagine owning the item(s). It seems to make things manifest for me. If the Universe is kind enough to
present the opportunity, it's my own choices that either cement it, or let it pass.

Well here in occupied California we have learned to always be ready or you WILL miss out, especially where hard to find S&W revolvers are involved.
Was out for a nice dinner with the wife years ago, south of LA in a nice area of orange county, after dinner we were headed back to the highway and there was a small out of the way gunshop. Wife used to be a shooter so she didnt mind if we stopped and walked around for a minute. They had a Smith that I had been looking for.
The bad part is my wife learned all my STASH spots as I started pulling money out of the back of my wallet, upper console of the truck, beneath the bottom pad in the floor console , everywhere but my a--.
Now its hard to look her in the eye when she ask if we can afford something. usually horse related...HA!!!!. There will be another better one just "Be Calm" and save money. Bob

"Don't leave home with out a grand.' Good advice unless you are going to the Tulsa show. If Tulsa have at least three grand.

I know how you felt not wanting to bend the plastic. I just paid off my credit card and stumbled on great ammo deal. I ended up passing on it. Lay away is another option to ask about.

LOL! I wish we still had real gun shows here in the Constipation state of CT.
Used to go to at least three a year, and they'd be stuffed with people elbow to elbow vying for the best deals.
Seems like it's all but dried up now. At least for what I'm interested in buying.

And here too, you'd better bring a fat wallet, even if you're good at dickering.

Back in the mid-'60s when I was actively collecting U.S. military longarms, I came across a 1st model Allin conversion - the 1865 trapdoor Springfield, that fired a .58 rimfire cartridge - our first issue breechloader.

The owner wanted $150 for it.

I didn't have that kind of coin. I should have hocked my gonads for it, but failed to follow through to buy it. I have NEVER seen another one; they are that rare.

So all I can say is ****.
