missing a spring in my sigma!

so i lost one of the two springs inside the sear assembly and i cant find it anywhere. smith and wesson will only sell it to certified armorers and brownells has discontinued the parts i need. anybody have an idea where i can find the spring i need?! my pistol wont fire properly without this spring and since this was my primary carry weapon im kinda desperate!!

Where did you lose it?? Hard floor, carpet, outside?? Have you tried a magnet? I once found a lost contact lens in shag carpet...found it by covering the end of a vacuum hose with a white cloth and going over the area.

i lost it on carpet. i havent tried a magnet so i might wind up trying that. if not hopefully i can get it from somewhere.

There are 3 springs in the sear block assembly; which one did you misplace?

i removed the pigtail spring. thats why i had it apart. when i was reassembling (sp?) the smaller diameter spring that is longer than the one it is inside of went shooting across the room. i heard it hit at least two walls. it sits up inside a small indentation on the bottom of the sear and keeps both springs in place. without it the weapon will only fire once and the spring remaining pops out of place. this causes the firing pin to not reset and the only way to fire the weapon again is to pull the slide back and manually reset it.

You could always contact LSG (it's in your warranty book) tell them what you were trying to do. They might do the job for nothing.

If the magnet doesn't pull it up, might try installing a new bag in vacuum, hoovering the place you suspect it landed, then hitting the contents of the bag with the magnet. Desperate times and all of that. Good luck.

I was gonna suggest the same thing SouthernBNB. Sorry that happened to you, I know how squirrelly those little springs can get, and those can be tough to find. E-gun parts would be my first stop, then I'd contact a certified service center, heck they may even have one laying around that they'd give you. Good luck to you man!

Call or email Frank Smith and explain your problem; he will get you taken care of . . . LSG is an Authorized S&W Repair center-- and these are good people; they will understnd what happened and provide a solution.

Or you can try some springs out of ballpoint pens . . . they have been know to work.

Yeah, them little buggers can take off in a flash! Now that I know if I lose one I'm screwed I'll be more careful. I looked for one, seemed like an hour. Thing went into my slipper, ouch!

I replaced my outer sear spring at Ace Hardware, they have assorted small coil springs. It was twice as long and I cut it to right size. It works great.

Might be OK for a target pistol, but I would never do that to my carry gun. There are specs on springs just like there are on screws, etc. Don't think Ace does a lot of testing on their springs in firearms.
