Somebody suggested Uighurs, and it got me to thinking: we have Uighurs hanging out at the Mall of America. They wear flat-bill caps, and hang their pants real low so they blend in. Could be trouble.

It was a very cohesive group. They collectively decided to ditch the plane on an island near Malaysia at an old Japanese air strip left over from WWII and spend the rest of their lives together in survivor mode. They've dismantled the plane, disposed of dissenters and are enjoying a utopian society. . . or so we hope.

When 3 systems were shut down manually after the transponder was shut off plus changing directions I have to believe this is a hijacking. I hope against hope all the people are alive and are hostages on some out of the way strip. Hopefully we will hear bargaining for the hostages soon.

Well they had enough to make it to Beijing, or about 6-7 hours worth, far below the amount the plane is capable of carrying. It was an ER (extended range version) That means with full fuel tanks it could have had a range of 7,725 miles. But the tanks weren't full. All reports state this plane's fuel would only allow them to fly about 2500 miles, 5000 miles short of it's potential. It would be par for the course for these guys to hijack the plane and set out across the Indian Ocean thinking they had a "full tank". Heading west they'd be bucking headwinds and, if they tried flying low to evade radar, they'd quickly eat up what little fuel they did have. OOpsie! Splash!
OK, how many hypothetical scenarios does that make now?

BUT, secretly they were able to pay off the fuel providers to fill the tanks and falsify the paperwork. Then they either paid off the flight engineer and/or had the appropriate gauges rigged

Everything pretty much fits with all of the information we currently have about the event. Once the airframe lost enough oxygen and everyone was unconscious, the plane kept flying on autopilot while passengers phones range, unanswered as anxious relatives called.
Eventually, the plane ran out of fuel, probably somewhere over the Indian Ocean, based on the later radar and visuals sights following its disappearance from the commercial tracking system.
Apparently, the engine tracking telemetry continued to report normal operations for hours after the plane "disappeared".

No matter what the final disposition of this turns out to be, you can be certain that those who wish to do harm are watching and learning from this and I imagine plans are already being made to take advantage of any cracks found in the system.

Then again, how about the pilot with the killer flight simulator in his house. I get it, he's a geek who loves flying but after 30 plus years, I have to wonder why he needs to fly when he's off, unless.....maybe he wanted to train to be able to fly the plane solo.......just sayin.

The USS DESTROYER KIDD is on the scene now. Maybe we'll get answers. Our sattlelites picked up something so we sent our ship to confirm it. I still think we, our goverment knows more than were being told.
