its a 140 gr TCFP "For Fast Action Velocities"

here's a link to the bullet on MBC's website

Missouri Bullet Company

I bought a box of 500

I am going to shoot it out of my 686 6 inch and planning on sticking with 2400 powder and thinking about using a charge weight range from 12.0 grains up to 15.0 grains.

I don't see much load data for 140 grain lead bullets.

anyone have any experiences they'd like to share????

I would use the load data from Lyman Cast for the 150 gr lead bullet page 258. Which also has the range you have. They start at 11.0 gr.

They should zing!:)

+1 with Rule3;

11gr of 2400 with a 150 should be around 998 with a 4" test barrel with a listed 17,900 cup.

With a Br of 18 you should not have very little leading, if any at that speed.....up to 1300 fps if you feel the need for speed......
but it might sting just a little bit.

I have yet to put my 125 lead down range in my 686.
With that 140gr I'm getting a "Vibration" that is telling me that 11.8 grs is a winner in that long .357 case!!

Let us know how it goes and you KNOW we all like pictures...........
later.

I really like those zingers and I have purchased many thousands of them. I get them in the 3K bundle packs to save on shipping.

I used 14.1 gn of 2400 with zingers and got 1156 fps with them. I shot them out of my 4 inch 19-3 and they were a little on the snappy side but not too bad. They were certainly accurate enough and I was shooting them at 50 yards with no problem.

I usually run them a little slower. My go to load with those zingers is 5.9 gn of Unique. This gives me 1003 fps and it is just as accurate and is easier on my hands.

As always, your mileage may vary.

What is their shipping charge for that sort of order?

I was looking at their 2,000 pack of LRN 115gr. 9mm ($131) and that seemed like a very good price, except shipping might make my heart stop. :)

They ship USPS FLAT rate. You can get 2000 (4 boxes of 400) in one box. Cheap, you mail person will hate you! My really really nice Lady backs her Jeep up to my garage "You got bullets again!" I open the box in the back of the Jeep and take them out one at a time!:D

MY THREAD HAS BEEN HIJACKED:eek:

at least someone should answer the question:D

from MBC's website

Flat Rate Priority Shipping
We offer USPS flat-rate shipping at the rate of $14.00 per 65 lbs., which works out to 2,000 bullets for all bullets weighing less than 240 grains. We also have 3,000-count bullet bundles for bullets weighing under 150 grains which ship for this same amount.

so since the 115 grains is less than the 150 grain limit;
shipping for 3000 is $14.00;)

Do I have to do all the work? I figured some folks could actually read or put something in the cart and see the shipping??:D

If I recall correctly the 115 gn bullets even have a 4000 pack for that same 14 bucks for shipping.

MBC Rocks!

thanks, I don't shoot IDPA, but I'll try w231 and see how they shoot

Rule
thanks, sounds like good advice. I think I will drop down and start at 11 gr. I'd hate to miss an accurate load.

I know, when I did the 158 TC's with 15 grains it was a pretty hard thump. I'm hoping I find what I'm looking for before I get there. Besides, I am cheap - I'd rather go with 11 grains

Nevada
I'll load a double batch of 11.8 for my test. :D
and yes, sir - a full range report with pictures will be prepared and posted

Jungle George
Well cool, good to hear from someone who has shot a bunch out at 50 yards!
thanks for sharing
I've shot 158 grains TC's and SWC's up to 15 grains
and you're right - 14 grains is not too bad
and good to hear Unique powder works good too

gm272gs
hi - jacker:eek:
just kidding, I was curious myself:D

Rule
thread drifter - but I owe you a lot - so I did your work:D

Jungle George
ahhh! - more thread drift:eek: - wait a minute, that's me, the OP you're quoting - nevermind:D

JMO, but as we discussed with the 140 gr bullet 11 grains being the start for 158 gr, That will be a very light charge with 2400 and the 140 lead.

I would start at a higher charge.

I was just going to start loading up these ZINGER's this morning

BUT

they measure closer to 0.359" than 0.358" in diameter

my bore is 0.3565" and chamber throats are 0.3570" to 0.3572"
[slugged & measured by a good gunsmith]

this doesn't look like its going to be a good fit:confused:

are these going to spit lead back at me??????? and have any chance of a decent group:eek:

You might call or E-Mail the company about the dia. of "Your" bullets.........
Might be a bad lot ?
They might ship you a smaller dia. or different weight so you can load.

Sorry about that................ Bummer.

do you agree trying them in this gun would be a waste of time?

Sometimes having too much information (diameters of this and that) is a bad thing. Load up 10 and shoot them.

You engineers measuring lead bullets out to a factor of 10/1000th's???

While I agree with the first part...

no engineer measured them, it was a crusty old gunsmith - a real nice guy up in the middle of PA....I just wrote down his results

I read on here and everywhere - "fit is king"

as harded headed an anal as I can be - I have a lot to do!
but why should I fight conventional wisdom and go down a path that most likely ain't going anywhere

but geeze, I'll load up 10 and try it - your advice is usually sound and counters my analitity (is that a word):D
that's a good enough reason

I'll come back and give you a "like" if they shoot well
