Mod 14-3 6" question

I have a medel 14-3 6" with a serial number 6K9335. I bought the gun new after graduating from the LAPD Academy back in 1972. I never used the weapon.

Can anyone tell me when this was made and the approximate value on today's market? I've decided to thin out my gun safe.

It was probably made in 1974. Serial numbers 6K1 to 6K58917 were issued that year. It may well have shipped the following year, since these did not leave the factory in serial order.

If in As-new condition, with box, papers and tools, $750 would not be out of line, perhaps even a bit too little in today's market.

I'm confused. The OP said he bought the revolver in 1972, but it wasn't made until 1974?

S&W Mod 14-3

I was issued a S&W K38 Mod 15-3 4" for my duty weapon. Several years prior to retirement the department switched gears and allowed us to carry semi autos. The approved weapon for uniform at the time was Beretta Mod 92F 9mm. I was working detectives and carried a S&W Mod 6906 until retirement.
