Mod 14-3 pics.

Here's one of the first revolvers I bought after signing on here and discovering cool things in blue boxes.

Mod 14-3 serial # 8K 9545, that should be around '75.

It's a common gun in uncommon condition. Most of the plain Jane 38spls were used for what they were intended to be, SHOOTERS! This one got put up by an old gentelman and left NIB for 35 years. And I'm gonna' leave it that way. (I believe I have another 38 around here to shoot, anyway.)
I got a box of Winchester 158gr LRN ammo in the deal too. Man, if I'd walked out of the store with the gun and box of ammo I'd have shot it THAT DAY. Now I'm content to just look it over and be glad it's still a "survivor".

I have to say, that the Model 14 S&W is one of the finest .38 Specials, ever. I used one for PPC "back in the day" and still have it. It has shot groups, with factory match ammo off a Ransom Rest of 5/8" at 25 yards. My own cast wadcutters and reloaded ammo would never quite meet the Factory Match ammo of the day but would reliably do 3/4" at 25 yards.

The Smith action is quite tunable (as most of you know LOL) and makes a "shooting machine"! Here is mine with a Bomar Rib, some honest wear and a pair of "Thompson-Rainey" grips:

GF, that is an absolute beauty! Nice find. Now I need to find one just like it to go with my 8 3/8" 14-4 of the same condition.

The box of Western ammo is nice too!

Dale53, I had a setup kinda' like yours in 357 with a ribbed barrel and action job that was an absolute tack driver. A good custom revolver is a pleasure to shoot. It made guys at the range think I actually COULD shoot!

Nightshade2x, it's good to see I'm not the only one who leaves a NIB example that way. Your revolver is pristine with all the candy! Good pics too.

"NICE" GF!! That kind of find makes you think twice about shooting it. Ponder that thought for a while. Don't shoot the box either! It's New too!!

I picked up this SAO 14-4 the first of the year. It aint new but it's pretty slick and a tack driver to boot.

This is my baby that I bought new back in '74, she is in pristine condition and nothing but factory 148 wadcutter ammo has been fired through her, she is even more accurate than my (sorry) 6 inch Phyton, I think I paid $149.99 and the hardest part was having to wait the mandatory 15 day waiting period (CA).
I wish I could get better pictures and show her true beauty, I put away the slim grips and use these ugly but very practical Jordan trooper grips.

This is a factory SA M14-3 from 1972. I purchased it (as far as I can tell) still NIB last year. Not a mark on it, and the sideplate looked like it had never been removed. Internals were basically bone-dry, with just a bit of dried, reddish factory oil/grease on them. No wear marks on the hammer, trigger, rebound slide of any of the frame surfaces that they touch. I've put 450 rds of 2.7gr BE, 148HBWC through it since I got it.

...and this is my 1977 M14-3 that I bought new in 78-79. It's only had 148HBWC target loads through it for the entire time I've owned it. Put the UltraDot on last year 'cause my old eyes are getting pretty crappy.
