Mod 19

I always enjoy having another Model 19 thread so I can show out this one:

Yes, it is a Model 19-3 with Fixed Sights and a 3 inch Barrel and was one of 50 that were part of an over run from a French contract.

Well, I am certainly in good company on the M19 issue! I have the M19-5 with factory grips, Ajax Sambar Stag Grips, and a set of Pachmyers for it. I always thought the factory grips felt the best in my hand. Although Ajax has some very nice grips for the 19 that look factory but are a bit fancier wood. I keep it loaded in my study with Hornady JHP .38. Don't want to waste a neighbor over some wacko intruder.

Clearly, you've never met some of my neighbors!!!

For what I gave for the Bill Jordan gun, I could have bought a whole bunch of new ones !

Glad your son liked the picture.

And to others -

Here are a couple of 3" 19's that I forgot about:

What is REALLY sad is that once, in the not too distant past, that could be a picture of a "few" issue guns laying on the workbench of a department armorer, getting a cleaning, inspection or tune up...and, several dozen more owuld be hanging on hooks in the armory ready to be issued..

What! No nickel 19 snubbie? A 4or6" round butt nickel? Now that would be a cool one.

Whats the story on the unusual speed-loader cut on those grips ? The grips
look factory, but that is not the factory cut. Do you know anything about it ?

Mike,

I found the gun with rubber grips and quickly replaced them with the Craig Spegel grips you see in the picture. They feel great on this gun - and don't look too bad either.

Wacko intruders are to be favored with the fruit of the Mossburg 500 Police, 00 Buck for the first 5 rounds, slugs for the second five from the ammo holder on the stock (it is easier to shoot THROUGH a corner than to shoot around it). While I am entertaining the wackos, my lovely and charming spouse will be backing me up with a Winchester with similar loads. This delicate cactus flower was raised in NM by a police officer who taught her to shoot. She qualified on the police range with a M1911 at age 16. Actually, the .38 JHP's are more a concession to her arthritis than my concern about the neighbors.

Bill, it may have been expensive, but it's pretty well priceless!
