Mod 24 advice needed

Thread started me counting mine. Got about as many as I have toes.

4 on the left side of the safe, and 5 on the right side??

The classic 44 Special is a 1950 44 Target (Pre-24) with a 4-inch barrel. The one below was shipped in March 1955 and is fun to shoot.

Had a 4" Pre 24 on my list for a while but like the 4" pre 27 they are not commonly encountered.

I noticed that instead of two set pins securing the fs ramp yours has two small flat head screws, I've only seen this on King sight guns, do you have any info on that ?

Brad...the ramp base is secured by two pins. The appearance of screws is an anomaly in the photograph.

I would be happy with either finish, both look nice but I'm partial to nickel finished revolvers.

Most of my revolvers are bright blue, however for some reason I'm always drawn to this matte pre-24 shipped April of 1955.

Frontier44...S&W made a few 1950 44 Target revolvers finished in nickel. They don't show up often for sale, and are very expensive when they do.

I agree with Engine guy about the 29/629 mtn gun. I have a 629-4 and couldn't be happier.
Offers best of both worlds, mag and special. Although agree with if you find one in special, buy it. There's something about them that makes them special. I had a nickel 4" TL with micro rr sight that I sold to a member, which left these 2 and a CA Bulldog.

There is 2 all steel all steel.44 spl's S&W made after the 24's & 624's........The 696 and the mdl. 21........Then they made some aluminum ones too........LOTS of choices out there.

This happens to be a Mountain Gun in 45 ACP but there are other variations of this theme, either 45 ACP revolvers or the Mountain Gun theme.

Good advise. I have SS MG's in 357/45acp/44mag/45LC..........REALLY SORRY I missed out on the 617 MG.

I had a M24-3 and sold it, thinking I would get another one later on.

I replaced, 10 years later, with a M629 Mountain Gun.
