I traded for a S&W 317 a couple weeks ago. I thought I might
use it for CC. Nice lightweight, drop in the front pocket and go. However, it does not like any of the CCI high velocity rounds. I've tried Stingers, Velocitors, Mini-mags, and SGB
rounds. After the 3rd or 4th round, double action, the cylinder
will not advance. I feel no lead spitting or other
problems. I can shoot CCI standard velocity rounds all day
long. I know that the Stingers have a longer case than the
LR rounds. The other types are the same length as the standard velocity. I know that this is not a steel cylinder, so
is it not rated for hyper or high velocity 22lr's? Any possible
causes for this problem? Is my revolver ready for a trip back to S&W? If anyone carries a 317 for Concealed carry, what ammo do you use? TIA
