Mod 547

SmithNut The Round Butt 3" 547s I've seen have had the K/L bannanas on them but who knows for sure what they came with factory?? I like the looks & feel of the Magnas better anyhow at least in my hands..

TexasSTEP give me an email & I'll send you the scan of the 547 manual, As I said before I have it in JPG & PDF..
With the PDF you can enlarge text to your likeing..

Thought I'd bump this thread back up as not many 547 threads come around..

Here's a Great pic I found of the Firing pin on the 547, Note the extra Pin that strikes the brass holding it forward apon firing.. A Very Nifty Setup.. Shown with the hammer pushing both in..

1943,

I can't compete with your 3" 547s nor your photography, but I just have to shoot back.

That HCd 547 has had a Round Butt Convertion done..
What else is special about that one..
Very Cool Indeed!!
I know the 4"ers can shoot, always wondered about the 3"ers.. Any Comments??

I just emailed someone the Owners manual for the 547 & got a failure to send notice??
I didn't save the email address so If you want it again please email me @ [email protected]
Neon8 your 547 looks pretty good for a Shooter..
I notice all the blueing wear on the ejector rod..
Must shoot pretty darn good..

Here's mine set up for range use with a set of Uncle Mikes square Butt Grips..
I wonder why S&W doesn't make these any more??
Cost too much to machine the extractor machanism? + Make a frame with two firing pins that is exclusive to them?

HEADKNOCKER,

The only thing special about the hard chromed one was the terrible job done on rounding the butt. I picked it up at a gun show and was not aware of the butt as it had hard rubber square butt grip. Unfortunately, the butt was attacked after the plating. It took a bit of work to clean it up, but it is a fine shooter.

1943,

Okay, you win this round. I have to go home sometime and get the other 547s to raise.

1943,

May I add my snap of the extractor to yours as it shows it in a different perspective. One has to look closely to see the extractors engaging the rims. On the empty chambers, the blued extractors show up well against thechrome.

tekarra-- Very nice pic of the ejection system. Yours is a lot more detailed than mine. I have never thought of that. Will add a photo to my collection the next time I get the camera out. Thanks for sharing

Here's a Bump for a Thread about a Scarce 9mm Revolver..
You don't run across these every day..

Here's another bump for the 547 thread with an interesting view of the 547s dual firing pin setup..
One pin strikes the primer the other the case of the cartridge to keep it from moving back during ignition..
Must work because I haven't had a sticking case in mine yet

Enough already! I bought my 4" Model 547 back in the early 1980's and threw it in the safe. Now, all of you have given me the itch to take it out to the range. Boy, there goes my weekend....

CapnHawk,

You have a duty to tell us but your range session and don't forget the pics!
