A local to me dealer just purchased a model 1 second issue in the 15000 SN range. I have not seen it personally but a few photos show it to be a 95% original gun - nickel frame and blue barrel, no pitting, undamaged chambers and bore, a few dings on the stocks and finish but shockingly nice for a 150 year old gun. A local professional buyer/seller believes it may be unfired.

Any guesses as to its value? (By the way, it is not me in the market to buy it :(.) Thanks in advance.

I purchased a model 1 2nd issue 3 years ago for $450 23000 range number. The response to the pictures I posted on this forum put it at 90% nickel finish. I haven't seen another since the Tulsa gun show 2015 but the prices for one like mine was about the same. Mine was estimated to be 1862 - 1863 by the serial #

Alan, the frame of the 2nd Issue was brass with silver plate. There could have been a very few nickel special order guns, but the factory provided silver plate as standard.

Ed has probably already helped you with value, but there is such a variance of opinions on condition from one "professional" to another, it would be very hard to guess without detailed photos or a hands on inspection. A drop by only a few percentage points has a big affect on the value for this model revolver.
