Picked up a model 10-5 today s/n d500xxx looks like 1973 Has some markings on the frame under the grips, Curious what thay might be? Same numbers stamped under the model number.

We get this question at least twice a week, but that's ok.
They are assemblers and fitters numbers to keep parts together. The others are inspectors ana quaility stamps. None of these have any meaning once the gun leaves the factory. HTH
 
Good looking gun. A good example of THE Smith & Wesson revolver of all times.
 
Thanks for the info, I noticed that the g10 was stamped over some of the numbers up by the model number and was just curious. thanks John
