I have a chance to purchase a Model 10-7 factory nickel plated snub with box and original grips. Looks like a square butt? I was told it's 1978 vintage and lady owned. Asking Price is $549, but on consignment and will probably take a little less.

Looks to be shot very little to me and lock up is bank vault tight. Only issue I see are parts of the finish that have little round dull spots. Freckling? Not flaking or raised like corrosion, but still a little darker than the surrounding finish. I know nothing about nickel finish (it is factory, N on the cylinder, blue extractor star etc.). My concern is if this condition will continue to get worse and result in flaking of the nickel. The gun would pretty much stay in the safe with occasional trips to the range. Also price looks reasonable, but again not familiar with the value of K frame snubs.

Thanks for any input.

For $500 I would grab it for sure. That's a fairly rare gun and old nickle ones in nice condition command a premium, someone will get it fairly quickly.

Nickel, pinned barrel, snub, likely original numbered grips (check back of right one) and papers, probably shot very little. Nickel will cleano up very pretty with flitz and renwax. Get it before someone else does.

That would be a definite buy for me. I see plain jane 4” blue Model 10s at about that price. Nickel, 2”, and the box puts it way ahead of the pack.

Yeah $500 is a good price for any 2” model 10 around here. I’m not a huge fan of nickel but I’d buy that one.

I have a blued 10-7 square butt snub that was a service revolver long ago. These shoot great but are a bit heavy for EDC, at least for me.
