Round butt handguns fit my hand better. Most of my Smiths are RB...my Ruger Vaquero is a Bisley, and my 1911s all have arched mainspring housings.

I carried revolvers for years. In my opinion, a square butt K or N frame sitting in a Jordan Border Patrol holster just looks all business and, the proportions are right.
Then, a very good friend got me this:

I have 2 model 10-8's, both round butts, one with 3" heavy barrel and one with a 4" heavy barrel. I just prefer the way they fit my hand.

I make no effort to carry my four-inch 10-5 concealed. The square butt fits my hand better. My EDC is a round-butt J-frame but wears Pachmayr Compacs to accommodate and comfort my elderly mitts.
I have smallish hands and prefer the round butt revolvers, in any barrel length.

In anything but a snubby, an old school Square Butt.
I like the way both round and square feel in my hands. I'm contemplating one of the Bud's police trade-ins, and since they're the exact same price, it's not making the decision on which to go with any easier!

How many RB mod. 10 were made? I don't see a lot of them @ the shows & our LGS doesn't get mod. 10s very often?
The round butt K frame fits my hand perfectly.

Both of my K-38s (a 10 and a 14) are square butted. I prefer that aesthetically, though it's possible that a round butt would conceal better. I've never had an issue concealing my 10-6, but that could be because I'm fat and carry it in a fairly low-riding IWB holster. One of these days I really should try a round butt, just haven't run across one I wanted yet.

I have found that a M-10 with the round butt works very well for a short fingered person. Stock grips with a Tyler T allows for a really good feeling grip. I wonder how many shooters have the S&W target grips on their guns for looks & would shoot better with something smaller/properly fitted to their hand?

I had never even heard of a 4" round butt till about 1977 when my agency switched from it's well worn S&W M-15's to 4" barreled round butt S&W M-10's.
I put Roger's grips on my and never looked back. I prefer the ergonomics and they're a tiny bit easier to conceal.

My 64 2 inch has a round butt easy to conceal, where my 15 2 inch has a square butt it prints real bad but fills my large hands better, thus I am on a quest to find vertical shoulder rig or cross draw holster for it

I can't believe how many guns shown here have Magnas but lack Tylers. I'm sure that there are some folks who like factory grips, or stocks as some people mislabel them, but I'm not sure that I ever actually met any.
K frame revolvers with Magnas need Tylers at a minimum, or, better, Rogers or Pachmayr grips. YMMV, and that's fine, but that's the way I see it.

It does not hurt a thing to own a variety of S&W fixed sight K frames.
This is mine; first resting at home and then out and about and ready for anything. Just to clarify, yes those are scratches and bluing wear. I call it character.

Thanks. When I got it, it had some Pachmayr grips. The checkering was just about all worn down and they were in pretty terrible condition, so I put on these grips and threw away the "Goodyears". Like most model 10's, this one is a real good shooter and remains tight mechanically. I let my 30 something SIL shoot it a few weeks back. Like many of that generation, he wasn't familiar with revolvers, but after shooting this, he fell in love (don't let my daughter know).
Here is my RB model 10 heavy barrel NYPD carried by a female officer in China town for 5 years before going to an auto. I really like the round butt, it seems to fill my hand in a more comfortable manor.

I know what you mean about the goodyears, I don't like them. When I was shooting the old PPC courses we used them pretty regularly. They performed very well in a match. I found that when carrying a gun concealed the rubber stocks would grab clothing & if you bent over it'd either print really badly or cause the clothing to hang on the gun & when you straightened up the gun would be exposed under a clump of clothing that drew attention to the lump on your hip.
Even with large hands I've come to prefer the "magna" type stocks & I do like a T grip with them, but can live without it. The lone exception are a set of Herretts Jordan Troopers I had made years ago. They handle recoil in fast DA shooting very well & I really like those.

On model 10's I prefer the square butt and the tapered barrel - because they balance perfectly.
On women, I prefer round....oh never mind...
