Model 10 Snubby Picture Thread!

I have been keeping my eye on a 10-5, RB with original grips for which the seller is asking $500. VG to excellent cosmetics (but haven’t yet taken off the grips to check condition of grip frame) and mechanically sound.

Thoughts on price?

Already have a 19-5, 2-1/2” and 66-4, 2-1/2” so no pressing “need” for another K-frame snub.

I don't remember exactly what I paid for mine but it was in the $350 range in a Gubroker auction last year. It has some finish loss on the cylinder and the trigger guard from being carried for what must have been many years. It's mechanically perfect with zero rust and has the original grips. I'd say for one as you describe $500 wouldn't be out of the question but perhaps a bit high.

How about a three inch.

About 20 years ago I picked up a 2" 10-5 shipped in 1969 for a buck and a half from a NorCal pawn shop. Wife had it dressed up as a 50th BD gift seven years later after I casually mentioned that I might like to have an engraved handgun.

Wow. That is beautiful. The older I get, the more I appreciate engraving. I don't really necessarily "like" it. I normally like things simple and clean. But certain ones just look right. That's one of them. Plus since you got such a great price on the gun, it makes it even more palatable. Hehehehehe. I love white grips though. I think they look the best with any type of finish. Well, any type of traditional finish. Blue, parked, matte blue, nickel, and stainless. Probably a few more could be added in there to look good with it. Hard chrome... etc.

I can't look at all of these great old snubs without thinking of the late sixties TV show Dragnet. Joe Friday sure stopped a lot of crime packing nothing but a S&W m10 snub and he never took his tie loose or even broke a sweat.
I couldn't wait for that show to come on every week.
"Just the facts, Ma'am." :D

Have wondered if this could be near the last of the last 2-inch Model 10s to be produced. Ordered in late 1995 with delivery taken in early January of 1996. Bet they didn't make 'em too many more years afterward.

A predecessor from the 1950s.

If it's in good shape, I'd say go for it. The cheapest I've ever seen was 550 for a nice one. Most online run between 750 and 1,000 that I've seen at least.

There's ALWAYS a pressing need for an old smith or colt snubbie!

I think I've seen the picture of the top one before, that or one just like it. It's gotta be close to the end because the grips are more red than the older ones. I have almost never seen that. Nice gun!

I believe he never swung his arms either. I'm almost positive of that. As of late, I've been watching the old black and white ones before Bill Gannon became his partner. Love it. My favorite color episode was the one with the loft. In an apartment building they see what they think is an attic hatch in the ceiling, but find a poker under the rug and when they pulled it down there was a hidden hallway of rooms and that's where the bad guy was. Loved it!

You do realize those stocks are elephant ivory?
