Model 10 Value?

Just inherited this and was wondering the value based on the pic. I beleive it was made in 1962. Just looking for a rough realistic value.

Is it marked Mod 36? Hard to tell from the picture but to me it looks like a M&P or model 10. What's the serial number? Leave off the last couple of digits if you want but include any letter and we can give a year of manufacture.
From your picture I'd say $300 to $400, MHO.

it is a 6 shot .38 special. serial number is 280xxx. I was looking at the wrong thing, let's go with a Model 10.

Is there a letter ahead of that serial number? It's important.

No letters. The Serial number is on the bottom of the butt and under the barrel lug. No letters in either location.

The SCSW list those serial numbers from 241704 - 70000 to 1915 - 1942. Someone hear might have a closer guess. That is if I'm reading right.

Hard to tell from the photo, and I'm currently away from my copy of the SCSW3, but I'll guess that it's a per-war M38, probably from the mid-to-late 20's. I'm basing that on the apparent brass medallion grips and large-knobbed ejector rod, as well as my distant recollection of sn's. That thing is very much like old Herman Goering's S&W. You didn't happen to find it laying around West Point by any chance, did you? -S2

Judging by the serial number and photo, if I'm am correct in seeing gold medallion grips, your revolver is a Model 1905, 4th change from about 1916-1918. Looks to be a nice one too! Greg
