Picked up a Model 10 through the thoughtful passing of a friend's grandfather. If I read the info right, it's vintage 1957-61. I see traces of what I presume is cosmolene, and no powder residue, though the cylinder has a turn line. I wiped her down a little and posed her today. My wife, bless her, liked the piece too much to let pass to someone else. My inclination is to shoot her, I don't own a museum. She's not mint in box, so why not?

Advice on care and feeding appreciated!

Cory

Well, I'm not a Model 10 expert, but I have owned several in both the pencil barrel and heavy barrel variety, as well as some Model 64's. I also run into them quite often as issue weaponry here in Mexico. In my own experience, the 158 grain Lead SWC standard load always prints to a nice slight 6 O'clock point of impact with them. Or, the same bullet loaded over 3.5 grains of Bullseye if you are looking to reload.

I mentioned the use of the Model 10 here in Mexico in the following thread:

Cory, you should be aware that some M10's are a bit more scarce and valuable than others. If that one is, for instance marked Mod "10-1" or "10-2", then it may be one of those that was only made for a year or two. Regardless, it sure looks like a nice one, and they are just plane-old good guns. It took me a while to come around to realizing that there is something very special in those plain vanilla, 4" pencil barreled (...incurring the wrath of SP) M10's, but the more I see them, the more that I appreciate them. Get thyself a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson and welcome to the addiction. -S2

It is stamped inside the yoke, no dash, unless I am missing something. Took me a few to figure the screw thing out.

Dont shoot your wife! It`s not worth it! Just let her keep the gun.

Pardon the misplaced modifier or whatever you call it. I'm on a Bruins high, not concentrating!
