The 1006 required a thicker frame and the original thin frame of the 4506 was changed so that the same thicker frame of the 1006 was used for both guns. Definitely do not use the Third Gen 10 mm slide on the Second Gen 645 frame or on the Third Gen 4506 with the thin frame. The difference in the thin and thick Third Gen frames can be seen by looking at the thickness of the steel in the dust cover area.

OK, let's ask the converse question....

- I have a great 1006. Can I put a 4506 slide & 45ACP mags on/in it and run 45ACP? I assume recoil spring/rod may differ btwn 10mm & 45ACP, so I'm talking about whole upper.

No you can't. Not that the 45 slide wouldn't go on the frame, but the mag wells were machined different on both guns. The 10mm mag well will have two slots machined in it for the "ears" that stick out of the side of the mag body. These ears prevent you from sticking the 10mm mags in the 45 frames. In that same way of thinking, the 10mm frames were not hogged out enough to stick a 45 magazine in, they just won't fit.
