I've been looking at model 14s for sale and I seem to find lots of 14-3s, 14-2s, and pre 14s (mostly 5 screw) but I have not seen any Model 14 no dash or Model 14-1s. Are they that rare or did SW not produce any in those designations? Thanks for any help.

The 14(no dash) and 14-1 had shorter production runs so basic laws of Supply and Demand, less out there in the pipeline + more sought by collectors = less encountered .

PS they are all good shooters, for collectors generally the older or more rare the version the higher the $.
My guess is more dash 3's were made than other versions.

Sometimes one must continue looking...and asking. The four screws are desirable to some folk. The Mod 14 is a sweet gun, as with the later dash ones. Neither were made very long. Best shooter I have had in my hand was a dash three low serial number, but they mostly all shoot very well. Good luck with your search.

The 14 no dash was produced beginning in 1957. The -1 began production in 1959 and the -2 began production in 1961 and continued until 1967. Thus, the original 14, then the 14-1 were only produced for two years each. (Information taken from 4th Edition of SCSW.) I do have a 4 screw 14-1 from 1961. Yes, they are out there, but just less common than the "newer" ones.

I have two Model 14s. Without pulling them outo, I think one is a 14-1 (4 screw) and the other being a 14-4. I use the later one for NRA 3 gun centerfire while the 4 screw is my PPC and nightstand revolver. I didn't go shopping for the 4 screw, it kinda fell into my lap, a very good condition revolver at a great price. These revolvers are out there, but they are not overly abundant. Patience will pay off.
