Can anyone tell me if these were finished in anything but blue. I came across what appeared to be a brushed nickel or stainless maybe. It was a duty weapon marked PK-41 on the bottom next to the serial number. tight lockup, looked like an 85% gun had a price tag of $400 from an estate sale.

Thanks

There were factory nickel ones. Stainless ain't a finish, it's a metal that some guns are made out of, but not a 15-3. Maybe a 66. If it looks like brushed nickel or stainless, it's probably an aftermarket finish. Some of them are pretty good, not usually cheap, often worth nothing or a little less to a potential buyer, but sometimes worth something to the right buyer (yours truly included). Not sure what that 85% means, particularly on a refinished gun. To me, lockup is more important, but if YOU like the finish (the "85%" makes me wonder), in my uneducated opinion, it IS worth $400.

Stand by for other opinions.

The 15-3 did come in Nickel, although I don't think it would have came as "brushed". If its truly a 15-3 it won't be stainless. It would be marked as a model 67 if it were stainless.

it must be refinished. Looks really good roll marks are not covered up as is some poor refinish jobs. grips appear correct and have some character marks that an issued weapon would have. I wasn't looking for a M15 (but don't have on either.) Price seemed reasonable I will go back when he opens tomorrow and look at it harder.

$400 for a good model 15, even if it is re-finished or Hard Chromed is a good deal.

I am done with purchases for quite some time, but a model 15 is just one of S&Ws best.

Good Smith and Wesson Revolvers are around in my LGS's, but they go very, very quickly. So a reasonably priced model 15 would not last long here.

$400 is a decent price for a clean original nickel 15 but IMO not for a refinished gun.

If you desire a SS version of the Model 15 look for a Model 67 instead as its the same gun in SS.
