Model 17-2 price check

I wasn't even looking for another .22. But this one popped up...
Actually I was asked to give my opinion as to what it was worth.

It looks like a 98% gun.. no loss of blue anywhere.. couldn't find a scratch on it. There's a little bit of green verdigres on one of the medallions that should come off easily.

6" blue gun with s/n matching magna grips, matching s/n number box, paperwork, tools including screwdriver. The S&W wax paper is there but a little torn up.

Any thoughts on a price range?

I'd think that package would likely go for about $750.00 these days (maybe more?), but I'm also very fond of K-22's! That looks like a very nice one.

I think the price mentioned by kthom is in the ballpark. It might even go for a bit more with all the accessories. If you can get it for $750 or less, it is a decent deal.

I'm not really in the market for it, as I have 2 pre-war and a 17-1... unfortunately no boxes. And I do like the older pre models.

However, this one is "complete" - and doesn't appear to have been dry fired - something that really bugs me when I look at the back of the cylinder. I keep snap caps in my 22's even when they're in the safe.

I may have to take another look at it...

It might be worth getting just to hold onto it for awhile.

Given condition and box I think you would be doing real well at $750. I would expect a bit higher. What is the asking price? LGS , online brokerage , flea market?

I honestly believe $750 is low for the gun you describe and as seen in the pics. A 50+ year old ANIB gun with all the extras is not something you see every day. I know around here I'd see at least an $899 hang tag on it.

I will say this ... if it were me looking at it, if I could get it for anything less than $750, it would go home with me. I can always make room for a nice K-22. That one appears to be a nice one, and it's got the goodies with it, which we don't see very often these days. Unless it has some kind of mechanical/funtion problems or bubba marks on it, I believe it's worth having! Check it out closely! And I'd probably consider buying it if it cost a bit more!

Saw a few a a show last weekend $900 for the nicest no box wrong grips $ 650 for the worst one pitted bluing loss nice shooter no collector value. I think your would bring around 1200.00 around here. If I saw the one you have pictured I could not get my money out fast enough.

Looked at it again... slight turn line around the cylinder but that's it... no pits, no rust, no other marks, no muzzle wear at all....

And yes, the first asking price was "$750". Face to face, no tax. They were asking me if I thought it was worth that amount and I didn't comment either way.

Haven't asked for a better price... yet
