I was just at my local gun store and I saw a Model 18-7 4" in the case. Now I thought they discontinued these many years ago but I guess they brought them back and then discontinued them a few years back. So what ammo works best for these? Does a lighter grain or heavier grain have more accuracy in these? How about some CCI Stinger rounds? What do these model 18's go for? The dealer said he does not have the original case for it so their is no key for the lock. It looks like someone shot 50 rounds through it and put it in the safe.

It is rare around were I live to find any S&W revolver in a 22 let alone a blued one. Well I did buy it:D I thought the price was decent but I could be wrong. So the only difference between the newer 18 and the 17 is the barrel and the front sight, correct? I see why they discontinued it if they offer the 17.

The 18 was mostly a 22 conversion kit for people who carry a 15 or 67 Combat Masterpiece. Not that many carry a 38 Combat Masterpiece any more. People looking for a target 22 usually go with the 17 or 617. Too big for a pocket gun. Too small a caliber for belt carry. Great plinker. it has just outlived it's popularity.

I have an 18-3 that has done anything but outlive its usefulness, and I did carry a Model 15 during my LEO days. It shoots any kind of .22 I put in it and is more accurate than I am.

What do these go for used in excellent condition? I'm talking about the 18-7.

Thanks, James
