Need some help please, I'm new here. Walked into a Gander Mountain store last week to look around and as I walked past the gun counter I spotted what looked like a mod 18 smith. I asked the guy behind the counter if I could take a look. Long story short I now own it, But what is it. It's a 4 inch pinned barrel, 3 t's,80% finish with one small spot of light pitting on the cylinder, screw in front of trigger guard, ser. k3148xx. Action is tight and as smooth as anything i've ever seen. Gun appears to have been carried a little but almost never shot. Barrel gap is about .003. Can't find a mod. No. but looks like a mod 18, By the way I paid 195.00. Did Gander rip me. TX Buckey08

You got a fantastic deal on that gun.

Around here any working Model 18 is worth $300. The one you describe would be closer to $400. Congrats.

Be very sure that your second post tells us all what a sweet shooter that gun is. It will be a joy.

Welcome to the forum. Post on.

Yer just yankin' our chain right Buckey08?
Great purchase!!!

Guys like you get ALL those good deals! If that had been me, it would have been $500.00 with no room to move.

Thanks guys for your help, I can also tell you my new gun shoots as good as the 1970 HS victor I let go this spring. I was more or less interested in what year my gun was bult and if it was a pre 18 or a 17 that had a short barrel. I thought mod 17s only came in 6 or 8 inch barrels. By the way check your police supply stores often, I bought 6 Mod 15s,some new in boxes for almost nothing (145$) when Michigan prisons went to Glocks.
