After purchasing 2 older 60 models from an estate this summer been kicking around a 640 stainless 3 inch dao they had. Went to look again today and bought a k frame 2 inch model 19 357?pinned barrel never fired from estate also. Not familiar but know its a blued 66. Combat grips adjustable sights, felt nice in my hand.
called smith with sn they told me it's a 1979. No box or papers but presented well felt good. Good old Illinois wait can't get til Friday. Been buying j's but this one feels good. I'll be researching it tonight.

Yes it's 2.5 inch store owner referred it as 2 inch. Can't find one on gb to compare it's very nice feeling gun to me as I'm used to j frames. $400 dollars I paid not familiar but do know a 66. saw it liked it and being new so I bought it. First smith I have blued all my others stainless but I'm anxious for it. My only k frame is a 64 4 inch

Yes I bought it can receive it Friday after waiting period. Man I really liked the gun never seen one except in stainless the 66. Price I figured was ok but more importantly I really liked the gun. I guess maybe they had rubber combat grips on some can't find much info on them. Did see pics with wood round butt grips very nice also. Just something I don't see around here no idea what I had so sought some opinions. Thanks all

You got a great buy. I paid $725 for one last winter and was just glad to find one in Maryland after a long search.

Provided mechanical soundness, astounding price -- well done. The Model 19 is on the short list of quintessential, iconic S&W revolvers, and in my opinion is in its best configuration at 2.5" round butt.

Enjoy. :)

Actually, it is the other way around. The carbon steel Model 19 was in production a long time before the stainless Model 66 came out. :)

You got that gun for a bargain basement price! Nice Model 19 snubbies are selling for more than $600 or $650 these days, in most places. Good find!

Here's my Model 19-3 with a 2 1/2" barrel. I got a good deal on it a couple years back, but I paid more than $400 for it then! I added the ivory stocks later.

You did very well to say the least! I was looking for a snub K frame, and could not find a good 1 at a reasonable price. Bought a 36 instead. It is my 1st J. Bob

It was $400? I hope you bought it. They are well over $500 these days.

Last week I paid $625 for a 19-4 2.5 (pinned/recessed) in 95% condition and was pleased with the deal - prices on the 19/66 snubbies are rapidly increasing. Perhaps the price is too high this week, but it won't be next week.

Thanks all for the replies. I usually do my homework before purchasing something I'm not familiar with this time I thought better get it while it's there. Very excited to get it Friday

Thanks for the info. I have the same holster that is 35+ years old and I have been searching for a replacement but it does not show in the catalogue. I'll keep searching.

I have another one, very similar, made by Bianchi. I've had it for about 40 years. Perhaps they still make one. Might be worth checking.

Holster searching is my next chore thanks for recommendations. Purchased in Indiana transferred to Illinois I can pick up Fri morning. Still can't find much info on 2.5 inch model 19. Really like to know original grips. This has what appears to be full length rubber combat with s&w insignia. Would guess uncle Mikes. They feel great but wondering if they were original since gun is unfired maybe a small series had them. Gues I want it as original as can be for a 1979 issue gun. Sorry lengthy post but I get into my older smith revolvers.

Muley that's the info I seek. Can't find a soul around here ever seen this gun so that's the info on here I'm seeking. Hell it's great as I'm getting it may just leave it as is but I like original
