Model 19-4 Red Ramp Front Sight

Just bought a 19-4 pinned barrel recessed cylinder Nickel. I have seen 100's but only a few with a red ramp front sight. It has a 2.5" barrel round grips. Can anyone tell me if the red ramp sight is more or less desirable? Seems to be a bit scarcer than the plain Blade sight. Serial #91K3963 which I believe is 1980. Please comment! Thanks!

I think the red ramp was a factory option on all barrel lengths, but I've not seen that many Model 19's with the red ramp. I would say if it shipped from S&W with a red ramp front sight, it's worth a little more. Only two ways to know for certain if it is original, the label on the end of the box it shipped in or a letter from S&W.

Thanks for the post! I do have the original box, but the space "Front Sight" is blank.
