A friend of mine has a 1970's vintage Model 19, he used as a duty gun for many years.

When the D/A action is cycled fast the trigger will ocassionally not reset and the action locks up.

Is this a matter of a tired re-bound spring? or another issue altogether? Been years since I've come across this.... HELP!

A weakened or shortened rebound spring can cause what you described. Failure of the trigger to recover for the next cycle usually means the trigger nose failed to drop the cylinder stop at the proper moment.

Another likely source of the problem is dirt, old dried oil, or grease interfering with cylinder stop movement. Time to thoroughly clean and inspect the action works.

Thanks John!

As far as I can tell the rebound is stock, but original. The revolver has been well cleaned, so if it is the trigger failing to unlock the cylinder stop ... is a new trigger or stop in order? Or prehaps both?

I seem to recall a repair in which the stop had the oblong hole it rides on lengthened to allow for more engagement with the trigger ....?

you could have afast stop. replace the stop.and that should do it.

Cycle the action with the sideplate off while being careful not to dry snap the hammer in that position as it can do damage to the frame if it (the hammer)slides up the hammer stud while cycling.

In so doing, you will see the problem as it occurs.

If the trigger is not going fully forward,it sounds like either a weak rebound spring or perhaps a faulty bevel on the cylinder stop. It's doubtful that it's the trigger.
