Model 19 TTT with short Barrel

I've looked around on auction sites a bit but I'm wondering if the factory produced (19 no dash to 19-4) with triple T and 4" or smaller barrel? In my mind it would seem an odd combination and I want to avoid something with swapped parts. I know you can never say never with Smith, but it would seem those options would be more suitable for the 6"+ barrels.

During that period the Combat Magnum with the 2 1/2" barrel had a round butt. I have never seen one that shipped with target stocks. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, I guess, but it would be unusual.

The 4" units shipped standard with target stocks.

The 19-3 Texas Ranger commemorative is pretty close.

4" barrel, target hammer, smooth target stocks and, iirc, smooth not-quite-target trigger.

The target hammer and target trigger were not standard on the Model 19, but many with 4" and 6" barrels shipped from the factory with those options installed. I've yet to see a 2-1/2" Model 19 on which the TT and TH were shipped from the factory but it is surely possible.

In my opinion, the TT and TH on a 2-1/2" barreled round butt gun are out of place. They are/were initially intended for target shooting, particularly single action bullseye, and hunting, but many shooters opted for these accessories on k-frames because the big magnums like the 29 and the 57 had them as standard equipment.

I carried both a Model 19 and a Model 66 with 4" barrels fitted with the TT and TH in my early days on the job, but I later came to prefer the feel of the standard .265" grooved trigger and the .375" semi-target hammer on my combat and carry guns.

Yep, they did. I have a 4 inch that is NIB that shipped TTT. I don't think it is scarce, I think it is just what someone ordered. 2 1/2 inchers with target hammer and trigger would be very unusual in my mind and the post above talks about them lacking target stocks.

I agree; the round butt-short barrel guns were designed as close quarters/backup/concealed carry, and the large hammer spur would be more likely to snag on clothing, and the wide trigger would be like lipstick on a pig; the gun wasn't designed as a target shooting piece, even though it had adjustable sights.

Here's a factory-equipped 3T M19-3. I bought it 6 or 7 years ago, got the box with it, so I know the hammer and trigger aren't replacements.
