Iffn' you had put a black powder chamfer on the cylinder, you'd a had an early Mountain Gun! What year did you go to the armorer's school?
I modified a 1917 that someone had nickeled and had also gold plated the hammer, trigger, ejector rod and thumb release. I cut the barrel to 4", added a Ruger Blackhawk front sight and a S&W N frame adjustable rear sight and then round butted it. I carried it as a duty gun for about a year or so. IIRC, I did this in the late '80s.
