Picked up a model 25-2 6" in nickel in .45ACP a while back. Guy has a new Taurus .357 Thunderbolt he wants to trade. Value on the T-bolt seems to be around $750. That's about what I have in the 25. Any thoughts from the crew here regarding a trade? Values on the 25 seem to be all over the place on the web.
Thanks..

Sure. If you like the Taurus and he gives you $1500 boot. I've not seen a nickel 25-2, and I don't want to see any Taurus so that's my thoughts on the two.

Without seeing the 25-2, no body can put a value on it, condition is everything. They came in blue, so the fact that its nickel probably means it's been refinished.
No Taurus is collectable that I am aware of. You need to post pix of that 25-2 so you at least have a working value on it.

I won't argue with your conclusion but I'll submit one for honorable mention in the collectible category; eight shot 22 Hornet. Of course I'll be happy to trade it for a 25-2 if anyone just has to have it.

I have a 25-2 in 45 acp (auto-rim) in 99% condition and would never let it go. Accurate, smooth shooter and beautiful in every respect. Think hard & long about your decision.

Moosedog,

You raise a question. As I noted in my post, I've never seen a nickel 25-2, your post would explain why. SCSW seems to state they were made in both finishes. I only assumed they were since I know the 25-5 is (have both nickel and blue in them). So is it true that nickel wasn't a standard finish in the 25-2 and has Roy or anyone ever explained why that's the case when most of their line was made in both finishes. Just curious...of course most also were made in various barrel lengths whereas the 25-2 wasn't...would love to have that gun in a factory 4" :) I can only guess that the 25-2 was never a really good seller.

Well thanks to the mod for getting this post into the correct forum. The consciences seems to be I should keep the 25-2 or post it here for sale and buy two Taurusi - except for the Raging Hornet maybe, heh, heh.. As to the finish, it appears to be factory nickel, serial is N45XXXX.
OTOH I have 3 other .45ACP revolvers, a 1917 , a New Service, and a 1937 Brazil that I finally got around to shooting after owning them for only 25-30 years(?)... ah me. I'll see if I can get my friend to take a couple of pictures and maybe repost in the mktpl or here..

Thanks to everybody for their input. When one gets old and crotchety(not to mention occasionally stupid) it's good when others verbally administer a verbal slapupsideofthehead to bring one back to reality.
