Thanks, those are very nice revolvers. Normally I wouldn't modify a revolver like the 1917 but this one is beyond restoration to original condition. I picked it up about 25 years ago and it's rough and different. When I got it the barrel was cut short, the top strap of the frame was milled flat and the trigger guard was broken but all there, and the cylinder wouldn't fully close. It looked like it was run over. On top of that there was some kind of weird vent rib epoxied on top of the whole mess. A little tweaking and I had it operational again. I removed the rib and barrel and put a 5" Brazil 1917 contract barrel on it, although no rear sight it worked and shot just fine. Now, fast forward to today, I thought about making it into a 45acp snubby similar to my S&W 325NG. I'll get the trigger guard tig welded and I need to come up with some type of rear sight. If I can find the original cut barrel I can put a front sight on it, if not I was thinking of a model 25 barrel. I'll post a photo of this mess when I get a chance.
