Model 27-2, 4", Nickle

I agree with GA JOHNNY, I have seen several nickel 4 inch Model 27-2's for each blued one.

Mine is s/n N7607xx, target hammer and trigger, G.A. football target stocks, red ramp front and white outline rear. Came in the presentation case. I believe it may be unfired post-factory. I paid $406.41 for it. I hope I will be able to get my money back if I decide to sell it soon.

Same day, same shop, I had to choose between the nickel 4 inch 27-2 I bought and a much nicer finished 5 inch 27-3 with unbelievable fancy grained stocks. I always prefer P&R versions, but the non-P&R 27-3 was just so darn pretty...

I also think despite what the "book" says that target handles become standard on the 27 long before 1980[/QUOTE]

Around 1975 if I remember correctly, the 27 was upgraded to all target configuration with wood presentation case.

According to Roy Jinks' book, "History of Smith & Wesson" - "In September 1975, Smith & Wesson improved the prestigious Model 27 by equiping the revolver with a target hammer, target trigger, checkered Goncalo Alves target stocks, and a mahogany presentation case."

One of the "prettiest" revolvers S&W ever made ! :)

Where did you get those grips? They would look great on my nickel Model 19

I am not a big fan of nickel guns, but 5 bills for that one I would have hurt my wrist grabbing the wallet. Good score. 27's are the best.

A beautiful Nickel 4" Model 27 for the price of a Model 28...
You definately will not regret getting that one.

I got this transitional recessed but unpinned 27-2 closer to $600 and thought it was a good deal a year ago.

It has a smooth combat trigger and now wears Finger groove Combats.

That's a steal for that price!
(I paid more than that for my Nickel 27-2 a fews months ago)
BTW, I like mine with the factory magnas. It just feels better than the
target stocks.
