I have just got hold of a Model 27 no dash. Serial No. S200846 with 4 screws and a 5" barrel, which should be about 1959. This gun is well used but not abused . Older guns are hard to find in Australia so it is a bit hard to pick and choose ,so we have to take what we can get. Handgun use was severely restricted up to just after the 1956 Olympic Games. After restrictions were eased the only guns allowed were bullseye type pistols. So 6" Model 14's and 19's are very common with 4" inch guns less common. And about 5 years the government had a handgun buyback and a lot of nice guns were destroyed.
So after all of that what do you think of my gun.

Model 27s and their precursors are great revolvers. I can understand your pleasure at having one -- and in an uncommon but desireable barrel length, too! Congratulations. Nice piece.

If you could have only one revolver that .357 is the ticket.

It has alot of charecter as well.

Good to see the folks "down under" are still allowed to have handguns. Sounds like you are living with some "California" style laws. At least here the state is out of money - so no "buybacks" for now!

A 5" 27 no dash... with COKES all in shooting condition. Should be a nice shooter.

Congrats,

The stocks are not correct for that model as they only came on the 41 and 44 Magnums made 1956-1965 or so. But they are very sought after and will sell for $600 or more.

The 5" 27 is my favorite handgun. I have 3 including the one below. It is S199543 and was shipped 5/19/60.
