model 27 vs 686

Are these two guns the same frame size? which would be better for siloette?

And I would likely go for the 27, especially if it was an older model.

They both weigh within two ounces of each other with same barrel length and the Model 27 is a N frame and the 686 is an L frame and the N frame is a bigger frame. The weight is close because the 686 has a full under barrel lug and the Model 27 doesnt'. This also makes the 686 have a heavier front which changes the balance. I would recommend you go to a gun store in your area and hold each to see which one you feel balances the best.

I have both and I like the balance of the Model 27 better but you might not.

I also have both, my 8-3/8" 686 w a 2X Leupold scope shoots 2" groups at a hundred yards, if I do my part.
I wouldn't be surprised if my open sighted 8-3/8" 27-2 would do the same. Try 'em out, go with your gut.
