Model 28 date check

I came across a model 28 at the LGS. The serial number is N955560. I was not able to handle it, but visually it appeared to be in great shape. All lettering (roll marks etc…) were filled in with white, was that ever done at the factory? If anybody can provide a date for that serial number I would appreciate it.

Probably 1985-1986. And it's a -2.

The -3 was introduced in 1982, so, probably a -3. The 28 was discontinued in 1986. The -3 did not have recessed cylinder. A picture would be helpful.

the white lettering was popular, back in the day. It is not factory, and can be easily removed with acetone.

I do not have my book near me, but did they remove the pinned barrel and counterbore under the -2 or -3 revision? 1986 was the end of production, right?
