Ok guys/gals im summoning the advice from the experts here.
I'm into class3 and autos but Ive always loved wheelguns. The only other wheel gun i own is my carry gun, a 340pd.

That was until yesterday when I went to purchase a gen4 G19 and as I was leaving I ran by the wheelgun case. I was shootin bull with the guy(im a regular) and he said he had something I would like in the safe....

He comes out with a recently aquired 29-2 with 99% blueing, original grips, and it looks like its only had one cylinder fired and was out away. The tag was $755 on it but he knocked it down to $650 for me so I put it on layaway. Ive seen worse ones go for $900 on gunbroker so i think I did good but wanted to ask you all.

It had the wide target trigger, looks like case hardened hammer, and you could see yourself in the bluing.:) I fell in love.

Cell phone pics:(

While it's true that I don't know diddly about 29's, that's a fine
looking example of S&W's fine art! I didn't know you could obtain one of those that low. Maybe you ought to take some donuts along next time.
You've obviously found someone who appreciates you. TACC1

:)

Yeah, when I laid eyes on the finish I could not believe it! The bluing was perfect, every other 29 ive seen had wear at the edges. And you can tell its original. Can I call S&W with the serial and get the history?

I can't wait to pay this badboy off.

I'd say you did well. 4" 29-2 are my favorite. Good price also. Congtatulations.

You got a really nice gun at a great price. There are similar guns that can be gotten for lower prices but they will not be as nice as yours. Most I have seen in that shape are running in the $775-850 range.

Good find there. Take care of it and shoot often.

congratulations on the 29-2 purchase and as others have said it's a beauty and you got it for a great price.

Can I run todays commercial ammo in it? Is there a round recommended for it. I don't reload.....yet.

Oh, yeah. You can put any current commercial ammo through that little jewel. Gotta love those N-frames.

Somebody here on the forum will be able to give you a pretty close birth date for your gun if you provide a serial number.

Really good deal on a classic! Everyone should have a 4 inch 29. Was Elmer's favorite as well. Ammo? It will handle heavier stuff, but my favorite load is 245 Keith lead bullet at about 850 fps. Do the job and nice to shoot. Now you need a 6 1/2 and 8 3/8 inch to make the set.

The book says it is a 1980 gun, if I read it correctly. Nice gun, good deal. Congrats.

Obviously I read it wrong!! It is 1972. (Had one two many digits in mind when I read it.)

Can you guys recommend a good rag for the bluing? The shop wiped it with a old silicone soaked wash mitt before storing it for my layaway and while it will ne good for storage it looked oily or waxy. Is there a good cloth out there that will bring out the true bluing luster and not leave a greasy surface?

I spray my guns with ordinary silicone spray you can get most anywhere they sell automotive stuff.

I spray it on, wipe/buff it off. The gun looks dry, doesn't show fingerprints, and I have never had a rust problem. I've been using the stuff for about twenty years or more.

Whatever kind of rag you happen to have handy. An old T-shirt or a sock work well for me.

Really nice 29. I keep telling myself I don't want one.

It doesn't work. :D

Yeah, im thinking about selling one of my g19's. Lol

Thank you for your service to our country. Be safe and get home.

Just got off the phone with smith and wesson. It was manufactured in 1972. And was in for service June of 2000, but he tried to look it up and it didn't say what it was in for. This blaster is 12 years older than I am, how cool.
