Model 29-5 ( update post #51)

I'm still up in the air about the full under lug. These two came with it.

Edit:Middle photo isn't my actual gun, but exactly the same thing anyway. I'm not a great photographer I admit.

I'd love to have a 610 with an unfluted cylinder.

Are the 29-5 classic models round or square butt?

Mine's round.

I thought so , but I can never tell for sure looking at them with the rubber Hogue grips on them. Thanks guys

I believe the Classic DX and Magna Classic are round butts, the Classic Hunter are square butts.

I can verify the Magna Classic is a round butt. Here's a better pic, still crappy photo. The second pic isn't mine, but that owner is a much much better photographer.

My Magna Classic's and MC over-run are round butt, also not drilled and tapped like the Classic & DX are. Nice thing about the round butt is that the Hogue grip for the X frame will fit and covers the back strap with nice comfy soft rubber. The 29-5 Classic Magnum 2 is also a square butt just like the 29-3, 29-4 Classic Hunter. Also there is a gun in the series of twelve that is the same as the CM2 with different markings.

Well, I picked her up tonight after work and I wasn't disappointed in the least. As a matter of fact I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was it in it's original box but it also had All the docs. and goodies!!, an unopened pkg. With the mop, brass brush and sight adjustment tool! This little sweetheart is practically spotless and has narry a turn line to boot. ( that will change soon)

Now to mount the Burris Fastfire III on it and get her out to the range for a test drive!

You did well. I was watching another identical one on GB that claimed to be mint in box and "rare" and that went for $350 more. I can't see any wear at all on yours, and if there is, it's not $350 worth. I want more red dots on revolvers. I finally put one one my 629 6 1/2", and I love it. I think my 5" 686 would be a good candidate. I've had a Fastfire 3 on my Range Officer .45 for over 4000 rd with no trouble, and that's riding a moving slide.

Completely sweet! I highly recommend the X frame tamer from Hogue, as others have said. They had only been available from S&W in the past but now also from Hogue for $29. Totally worth it upgrade for large hands, long fingers or both as I have. That gun will be very accurate. Mine is.
