After a few beers last Friday, I was lucky enough to win this auction on Gunbroker for this model 29 no dash from Georgia, 1959. Serial number is s1878xx. Great Dealer on Gunbroker. It went very smooth. Nice Guy. The gun is gorgeous, beyond my expectations. A Deep, Deep Blue.. Based on what Lowhog and others on this forum have taught me, I know this one is legit. Thanks to him and everyone on this forum for helping me. Here are some pics of my 29 no dash. Let me know what you think.

I wonder if the box is correct... The top box is the 29 no dash box and the bottom box is my Pre 29 box... Notice the different Hardware...

Fantastic! But, the real question is, are you going to shoot it?
;)
I would surely be torn if it were mine.

Thanks, I appreciate it ! It has already been shot, so, why not shoot it ? the problem is holstering it. I would like to hunt some wild boar with it, but, I don't want to holster it. Some 240 gr. standard Magnum loads... I could sight it in and hunt with it using less than one box of ammo. That's nothing... but, holstering it around, I don't want to do that,... I think... :D

Hello hdca
That is a Gorgeous example and the coke profile stock's are presentation grade as well, very Nice ! I hunt often with my S&W revolver's and one way to insure that no Bluing is lost on the end of or the side's of the barrel is to use a product called Renaissance Wax. It is a silicone based wax sold to protect metal surfaces, and it does a super job of that .I Put Three or four coat's of it on all of my Gun's as it work's really well at protecting the metal of a gun. I also use it on the face of the cylinder and even Gun cleaner's will not take it off and it provides and easier clean up of the face of the cylinder after firing it. I would also suggest using a factory S&W shoulder rig as they fit the weapon really well and the inside surface of them seems to be kind to Bluing as I have not lost any Bluing at all when using the wax and the S&W made shoulder rig. They ceased making the factory S&W shoulder rig's many year's ago but they can still be found on Evil-Bay at times at bargain prices. I have rig's for 4" K-Frames, 6" K-frame well as 4" & 6" variation's in the N-frame series and even have one for my Snubby J-Frame as shown. They are the Most comfortable shoulder holster rig that I have ever worn as well. I hope this help's here is some of mine shown. Good Luck and Good Hunting, Get that Model 29 waxed to protect it's blued finish this stuff really work's well and find ya a S&W factory leather shoulder rig for carrying it afield. Regards, Hammerdown

I think if you get the right holster...one lined with the right material...you shouldn't worry too much about holster wear. I'd also stay away from tightly boned holsters. But your hunting isn't going to be an everyday thing, is it? Or even a regular thing? I really don't believe the time your gun would spend in a holster would significantly affect the finish.

My friend and I were watching that auction. GOOD JOB ! You will be able to admire (and maybe shoot ) that beautiful revolver for a long time, plus you can always show off the pictures with those fantastic stocks too.

Thanks ! Great Dealer ! Super smooth transaction. A feel good deal from Gunbroker... This puppy is the jewel of my very modest full gun safe...

Also guys, love those holsters ! Some real gems... I used to hunt Boar a while back with my LAR Grizzly 45 win mag. It had the 6" barrel, so, I favored a cross draw hip holster... I think I would love a cross draw flap holster for this 29 no dash.. I am going to look for something like that.. Thanks.

Man, what a sweet lookin' classic wheelgun! I have a 29-2, and yours puts mine to shame! The grain on the grips is superb! I am SO envious of your find.... Enjoy!

Just so You know....The "Nice Dealer" in Georgia owns this Forum...:)

Cool, he sent a card in the box and it had the address of this forum, so, I knew he was a member. A Super honest guy with super nice pieces. What else can you ask for from Gunbroker ? I had the gun in my hand in California at my FFL within 7 days of winning the auction and inside all the foam packaging the "no dash" was in a nice gun rug. The box was packaged separately with each tool wrapped.

When I opened the Gun rug, my eyes bulged out and my FFL said "Wow" at least twice as I inspected it with my flashlight. Overall a very pleasant experience. :D

That there is a certified beauty queen. Personally, I'd have a hard time carrying that lady into the woods. But, that's why I have my Model 69. :)

Congrats!

Sounds like I owe you a few beers. :D
Thanks for the kind words.

Most old S&Ws are pretty.
Some are exceptionally pretty.
Some are simply outstanding.

In the ad description, I said-
It is a stunning example. If I could afford to keep it, we would not be having this conversation. It has the blue job that every S&W should have.
I meant that.
It has that occasionally seen blue job that says everyone in finishing was having a GOOD day, from the polishing to the ovens, resulting in that finish that looks like a pool of smooth black liquid you could stick your hand in.
The grainy cokes and the vivid case colors didn't hurt it at all. ;)

That's a nice gun.
