I have a no dash model 29. I am having trouble removing empty casings from the cylinder. The ammo goes in fine. It is very difficult to remove after firing. I have the same problem on 44 mag or 44 special. It is all of the tubes, not one or two.

If I do not fire the ammo, it slides right out. I have taken the cylinder apart ant completely cleaned it. Any ideas ? Thank you.

A revolver gunsmith should be able to diagnose the problem, hopefully a minor or easily corrected one.

stuck cases

I recently had similar issues with a new to me 28-2. There are several previous threads on the forum that come up if you enter "stuck cases" in the search bar that may be helpful. I found the culprit in my case was crud in the chamber recesses that was very hard to see and persisted despite what I though was a really good cleaning. Removed it all with some toothpicks and nylon brush. Also re-cleaned the chambers as supposedly they may look clean but still have debris adherent that can impede case extraction. Once these steps were done, the cases now extract fine. Fortunately, my fix was quick and cheap. Hope the threads that helped me are of help you. Good luck - I've found the forum members to be incredibly insightful and responsive.

Even though you feel you cleaned the chambers, there may be persistent residue in them. Get some Blue Wonder Gun Bore Cleaner, a .44 cal. brass brush, a hair dryer or heat gun, and a Dremel tool or drill. Heat the cylinder until it is hot to the touch then slather the Blue Wonder in each chamber and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Chuck up the brass brush and run it through each chamber on moderate speed a few times paying particular attention to the shoulder to chamber area. The chambers should look polished after you clean up the remaining BW. If this doesn't stop the binding, you may have to have a gunsmith hone the chambers.

I definitely agree with the chamber cleaning recommendations here for your 29. Here's another tip that worked for me; I had the same problem on my Model 53 .22 Jet. I lubed 6 cartridges with crystalline wax, lightly and fired them. The wax transfers to the inside of the chamber walls and my problem disappeared, at least for the next 100 rounds. My brass ejected without effort. Quick fix. Good luck with your issue.

I haven't taken the time to look but is there such a thing as "go, no-go" gauges for .44 mag chambers? Would Brownells have such a thing?
Just a thought;
Mike

Go, no go gauges only measure the length of cylinder chambers and as 44 mag and specials head space on the rim you would not learn much. If a straight wall chamber has a problem it is either a groove or a bulge.

You can rent go no gauges from 4DREAMERS for $8 plus shipping though.

A happy ending!

Whom did you use for the work? I knew quite a few very good gunsmiths in CA but many have passed away or retired.
